Colombian born caricature artist, Ismael Roldan died in New York today aged 45.
I only recently encountered his work when I heard he was an honoured guest speaker at the 'International Society of Caricature Artists' conventions. Didn't know him personally, never met him, but he was a fantastic artist and from all accounts a nice and generous person.

Very sad loss for the caricature community...he was a brilliant draughtsman and on the top tier of people who practise this artform!!!

it's weird, i didn't know him, and was only somewhat familiar with his art, but this sort of news hits a lot closer to home than hearing of some celebrity that died.
sad news, and a big loss for the caricature world.

| I met him briefly at the con. It does hit home. Way too young. When I heard this last night, I had to stop what I was doing and hug someone I love. My sincerest condolences to anyone close to him.

wow, that's shocking and very sad to hear. I met him last year at the ncn con when he was our guest speaker. a nice guy. I remember cutting out his caricatures from magazines when I was a kid.
