It was great! Lots of interesting things happening. Don Cheadle is such an improvement over Terrence Howard, I can't even tell you.

I enjoyed it to hell and back. Damn good movie simply put, but the enjoyment was the slightest of dimmed by the fact that the 'you complete me' scene from the teaser trailer was removed. It wouldn't have been that big of an issue for me except it was an entire scene that was used to sell the movie...and they took it out. That is such an itching pet peeve of mine.

I haven't seen it but I'm dying to do so. I did read one critic say the movie pushed the improbability factor way past the limit no matter how much the audience tries to suspend the concept of reality. Anyone agree with this? I personally hate the whole "Hey! It's a friggin' movie!" thing. If it's a tight, well-executed and smart screenplay, there won't be much of an opportunity to count the improbabilities. Judging from the feedback I'm reading here, that critic (Chris Gore of "Film Threat Magazine") is definitely of the minority.

well, it did push the boundaries past the limits of the first movie (breifacase suit, inventing new elements), but nothing too ridiculous or out of place in an iron man movie.

I loved it btw, in particular the climactic action sequence, tho Mickey Rourke's part felt like it was cut a little short at the end.

I liked Rockwells fake tan and little dance.

But yeah, the end fight with Rourke could've been longer, and the rest of the film shorter..

The fake tanner all over his hands was hilarious. I think that was my wife's favorite part.

I liked it as well. But I'm definitely ready for Iron Man to fight someone other than, you know....Iron Man.

"Hey, Iron Man...here's a medal for defeating Iron Man. Again. Wait--what?"

I heard that if Mandarin ever shows up he'll be tech instead of magic. That stinks. They've got a built-in audience. I think it's time to bring some fantasy into this franchise. If the next movie opened with Mandarin shooting tornadoes and lightning out of his rings while riding a purple shorts-wearing Fin Fang Foom, I'll see the movie 10 times.

This kinda bugged me as well.

I once had this school assignment to come up with a concept voor a robot with a specific purpose.
I drew something for a militaristic purpose. that looked very similar to a Hammer drone

My teacher told me to be more creative and let go of a humanoid design because that's the first thing someone would come up with.
I was free to do anything, so why not seize the opportunity to design something wild?

Now, 7 years later, I see the same uninspired stuff, only for a 100 million dollar film.

I don't even need to see anything that's really out there. But would it have killed to create maybe a mechwarrior type of thing for Iron Man to fight? The climax of the film could've been a bit more exiting if they had to fight this humongous Metal Gear like robot.

But that was the least of the film's problems, really.

I get the feeling this film was rushed into production, and that they were a couple drafts short of creating a cohesive plot. I know they did a lot of improv, but they really coud've used a well structured story to hang the improv on.

The marvel universe winks didn't work for me either. Mostly because Sam Jackon's acting seemed to come from a different type of film than this one.

I did like the teaser for Thor, though.

I really want to say that I liked this film, seeing as I'm such a fan of the first one. But I just can't and that saddens me.
This time around I felt nothing for anything that was on screen.
It wasn't "Oh my god, what were they thinking" bad. But all of it really just left me cold.

It's not like it's even unjustified to have him be based in mysticism now that they're bringing Valhalla into the mix.

i gotta be honest, the audience would ask the question, why the hell is this psionic power zen master with alien rings the archenemy of iron man in the first place?

they seem straight out of two different stories.

besides, the mandarin always has always had technological based plots to take over the world anyway, so who cares if the feel the need to base him in the real world.

and i don't think you can look at the fantastical elements of that character the same as Thor. while all nice and cozy in the marvel universe, they are contained within their respective movies and story lines. introducing the Norse god of thunder in the third iron man movie would be rather out of place too. fan boys and comic book readers will accept it for what it is, but the movie going audience won't really get the mandarin unless he's introduced in a more down to earth way.

Since they're screwing with stuff anyway why not just say Loki gave the rings to Mandarin and be done with it?

According to the Mandarin's bio on Wikipedia, he found the rings in an abandoned spaceship in the wilds of China. So Mandarin's rings are alien in origin. I didn't know that. Iron Man's basically a sci-fi movie anyway so that fits in fine.

EDIT:

I looked it up.
THIS is the film I want to see:
"With the other members of the Makluan crew dead, Foom decides to reform and becomes a follower of Buddhism. Entering into a rehabilitation program with three other monsters - the robot Elektro; the giant ape Gorgilla, and the alien Googam - Foom is shrunk down to human size, hypnotically stripped of all powers and allowed to enter human society. Foom becomes head chef in a Chinese restaurant within the Baxter Building, and teams with the other monsters to defeat the size-changing warlord Tim Boo Ba. Foom begrudgingly aids Wong - the servant of Doctor Strange - in defeating a force of HYDRA agents"

If this happens, I hope the Characters are involved.
