The subject for month's Jam is characters that originated in the 40s, or significant event and/or storylines from that particular decade.

To start, The Spirit (I based this on a photo of Gabriel Macht in the recent movie, but changed his outfit to the correct blue colour)

Great work em!

I'll throw in a Spirit as well...I know the background is a bit dodgy and there isn't any perspective...all I have are excuses, LOL.

nice Em...the blue is sooo much better and you got the likeness and squared him up abit more. and i like the pencil colour look of this one wheels...very fitting. like Euan, i used a shot of Gabriel Macht as well.

and does anyone have a list of 40's characters? that was pretty handy on the 30's jam, too avoid confusion...

Everybody looks great so far! Here's my go. I'm a little unsure about how the colors turned out in it, I was inspired by em and daniel's awesome colors.

EDIT: I decided to recolor it and replace it here.

Great idea for a jam!

Monkey Marc, nice pieces, specially the Blackhawk one.
Zimmerman, great Ray.

As for the other gents, let me join your fine renditions of The Spirit with something of my own which I did some months ago but never got to post here.

I'll try to have something new done in time.

Cheers!

I'm going to resist the temptation of calling this a very Spirited thread.
Really fine pieces all around.
Here's my contribution, the Big Red Cheese himself.

Hello! I'm new here so I thought I'd start off by joining in the artjam ^^

Some of my favorite heroes were made in the 40s, so I really love this theme. I hope there's no rule against multiple submissions ^^;

And one of the few color pics I've done:
