Motivated by the success of the first 2 artbooks “Drakaina Fantasy of Desires“, published in Europe by Spootnik Editions and “Drakaina Fantasy art Muse“, published in the united states by SQP and also by the inquiries from artists interested to submit their art for a new artbook, we have decided to launch this competition, reaching out to all fantasy, erotic, comic and pinup artists.
PRIZES:
The winning artwork of the competition will be chosen as cover art for the artbook as well as a $500 cash prize.
The 2 runner up will be featured for a month on Drakaina’s website.(http://drakaina.com)
All selected artists for publication in the artbook will receive a complimentary copy of the artbook.
CATEGORIES
There are four (4) categories for the “Drakaina: Masters” Competition. All will be judged jointly by an international and well established publisher in the field of Fantasy art and erotica and Drakaina herself. You may submit artworks in any or all categories.
Be assured that all works will be considered equally regardless of medium, or category, providing the content is not outside the boundaries defined below.
Drakaina - In the lands of Fantasy - All artworks in this category must be fantasy art related - All genres and sub-genres - Heroic Fantasy, Dark fantasy, Fairies, mythical creatures, will be welcomed and reviewed equally (for more infos on accepted sub-genres please review this article [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_subgenres)[/url].
Drakaina - Comic and Manga Style - This category involves artworks portraying Drakaina in a comic book or Manga style.
Drakaina & Lilith: Drakaina and her friend Lilith go way back, their history intermingling both in life and fiction (cf the upcomings Drakaina Origins & Larme de Sang). Therefore we started receiving artworks submissions of the both of us portrayed together which has given us the idea for this categorie.
Drakaina - Erotic collection - Any 18+ depiction, any artwork showing more than “topless” of Drakaina can be submitted in this category. All work must not move outside of the boundaries of erotica. We will not tolerate any works that include references to beastiality, or depict extreme violence
Accepted Medias - Included artworks will have to be either sketched, drawn or painted by hand, computer and digital means. We will not accept infography (digital artwork that is photographic based, meaning if you use a pre existing photograph of Drakaina and enhance it with filters, brushes and such).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: ELIGIBILITY
First of all there is no entry fee!! Browsing the web along the years we did found lots of competitions open to artists but 99% of the time artists had to pay to submit their artworks. Being artists ourselves we’ve always felt that it was wrong, as if being published internationally in a book is a great chance of promotion and exposure, we always thought that an artist should not have to pay an entry fee in order to be featured in an artbook.
The submission is open to all tasteful, beautiful, controversial, unique, and technically assured artworks.
You can enter as many images you want. Any or all of them may be chosen for publication.
ARTWORKS REGULATIONS
The following artworks will not be accepted:
1. All XXX artworks
2. All works that include references to bestiality, or extreme violence.
3. Artworks that are blurred, or grossly oversized.
Artworks should be submitted to drakaina@drakaina.com in the following format:
*.jpg format;
*Max 1024 pixels on either side at 72dpi;
*Less than 800kb
If chosen, you will be expected to provide us with a 300 dpi, CMYK Tiff version of your artwork(s).
You will need to access Drakaina’s archives reference photo galeries. Registration is free to all artists. Please send Drakaina an email] when you have registered, with “Drakaina: Masters” in the subject line,and a brief presentation of your art. Account validation will then be effective
COPYRIGHTS
Important: All artists shall be in possession of ownership and copyright of the submitted artwork, and have no legal objection to ‘SQP‘ publishing the selected winning image(s) in the “Drakaina Masters” book. Drakaina nor the publisher are not responsible for false copyright claims. No other rights, print, electronic or other are granted to Drakaina. However, we may wish to use selected images in the promotions and marketing of the book only.
All copyright ownership stays with the artist for this publication and in no way will your professional integrity as image owners be compromised. We may wish to use selected images for the promotion of this book in the press and media; however no works will be printed on any other literature for sale other than the book. By submitting your artwork you agree to this permission.
DEADLINE OF ENTRIES
All entries must be submitted by no later than April 30th, 2009. Winners will be notified by May 14th, 2009.
