This month's Jam concerns characters who's copyright is no longer held by a company or individual.
A list of some can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_public_domain_characters
I've not been feeling well the last couple of days, so you'll have to make do with a slightly shoddy Peter Pan sketch to start off with:

She's mad as hell and she aint gonna take it anymore. I'll add the wolf later maybe possibly. Hell I may even get the patience to color it!
...
Yeah, prolly not.

Great Peter Pan, em... sorry to hear you're under the weather. And that Red Riding Hood is wicked, Moonman ... hope to see some colors!
I went with a little more recent copyrightless character ... I give you The Skyman!

JoeyStone- You're forgetting all the 3D sci-fi monster stuff you posted. I'd say that took up all your quota.
Nice stuff guys. I might have to have a go at this one.

Never heard of Skyman, but I like what you have posted, Cap.
Nice Pan, Euan, a bit dark, or it's just my screen ?
Moonman- that Red piece has a lot of nice movement in it.
I suggested this jam, so eventually I will have something to post up here. I'm sure that some of these posts will rejuvenate some public domain identities and I am hoping that it'll inspire some future proposals.

Great thread and great entries so far. Here's a WIP that may or may not get finished.
I was very surprised to see ERB's John Carter Of Mars on the list but it did inspire me to draw him.

This looks to be an interesting thread, and a bit of an eye opener. Love the Peter Pan, especially as it seems morning is coming up behind him(I assume its morning) Totally appropriate as it places him(to quote pretentiously from the movie, Hook) in that place between sleep and awake, where you still remember your dreams.
The Red Riding Hood is a fun piece, I agree about the pose, especially liked the cape, would love to see your take on the wolf.
SkyMan is absolutely nifty, love the colors and the pose. I love those golenage heroes too.
Damn, I wanted to do John Carter He's my absolute fav and I really liked what you've done here. And I was also surprise to find out that he is in public domain
Well, here's my humble contribution, slightly before my time but I do remember the cold war and the warnings of nuclear attack and I never understood why the bloody hell they sounded the warning siren noon everyday 'omigawd, are we being attack?' 'No, its lunch time'
Anyway, here it is, Bert the Turtle

Cool thread Em. The list is very helpful. Who new all those characters' copyrights have run out. Here is one of my favorites... Frankensteins Monster.

Big Bad is very hard to draw...and I don't like him because of that.
