I always liked the big guy, but I predicted a John Candy-like finale that never came true.
Just keep taking on more voice over rolls and stay way from any live action that finds you trotting around the sweltering, Mexican desert, I suppose.

It's been a good year for Goodman - he's got a role in the soon-to-be-a-smash hit/complete-rip off,
Evan Almighty - he's signed on to star in the live-action version of the claymation holiday favorite from 1974,
The Year Without a Santa Claus
for NBC, playing, you guessed it, Santy Clause -
and on June 3, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced John had been selected
to receive a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.
Joing him next year are entertainment greats Erik Estrada, Sean "Daddy” Combs, and previous Caricature Jam atendee, Matt Damon.

So fire up your extra-large pencils and go to town on
everyone's favorite rotund baritone.

Caricature Jam 1 - MATT DAMON
Caricature Jam 2 - UMA THURMAN

John Goodman squeezing & throwing the toad against the tree in Oh Brother Where Art Thou has to be one of my favorite John Goodman moments. I know it sounds sick but that scene that just crack me up!

This is how I do caricatures. It is a long process especially when I haven't done it in a while. I do not have an exact likeness but if you look at the stages you will be able to appreciate the progress which I have made.

C and C welcome, and please tell me why it's not right yet

Thanks
Ibye

ibye - Great seeing the steps, and how each little adjustment adds something.

As to why it's not quite there yet - the eyes. They are what we look at first on a person, are the feature that we could best recognise a person from, and are therefore the most important part to get right, on a straight portrait or a caricature. If the eyes ain't right, then the likeness will fail, however good the rest may be.

Your Goodman needs his eyes to be more smiley, in my opinion.

Starting to really look forwawrd to this jam.

I was wondering if there could be some type of rating system for the level of difficulty with the models. On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the more difficult) I'd give Uma about a 6.

Of course, I've only done four caricatures in my artistic lifetime. I'd love to get some other opinions. I realize it will be different for everyone and I think that will make it interesting.

So I think I'd give King Ralph a 3. A low 3.

Just throwing that out there.

It's quite a subtle caricature, MuthrGoose, but you've definitely captured him. I'd recognise it instantly. Well done.

em-
Thanks for that truism about the eyes. You are absolutley correct, at one point
I had just squinty "smiling" lines for his eyes, but it still wasn't working. maybe I need to go in between that and what I already have here. Thanks again.

MuthrGoose-
I dig the style, you definetley nailed the smiling eyes and everything else.

Donovan-
I think goodman is in there, it's just a bit too distorted for me.

Iam reposting my attempt which still isn't there, but I think has improved thanks
to cues I took from to MuthrGoose's fine effort (hope you don't mind)

ibye - Neat process. I'm with em... on the eyes but otherwise, good job.
MuthrGoose - Really nice work, especially only being your 4th caricature.
donovan - A little weird but in a good way. I like it.
vicjperry - Cool. I like how "squished" his head looks.

I don't know why, but I found the idea of people living in John's double chin kinda funny. Very Happy Anyway, I look forward to seeing everybody's.

troyboy: Hilarious. I might even suggest doing a series of these called Celebrity Homes. Smile

troyboy-
That is great! I agree with the series idea. I guess it would be difficult
to pull off as a caricature, but there are most likely people inhabiting
JLo's ass.

I haven’t done many caricatures in my time; they’re tricky little things aren’t they? But I’ve been getting a better idea of how they work from people on the board. So thanks.

I just kept thinking, Fred Flintstone.
