these are wonderful robin......you have a really great kinda doughy feeling int he characters faces...towards the botttom....and you construction and stylization of the torso and hands, makes me insanely jealous. smart postures........

by the way......I had the privilege of seeing something that you rendered recently....character dancing on a ball.......... very nice work there....

looking forward to more inspiration.

Inspiring indeed! Awesome heads. Keep it up good sir, keep it up. BTW, Aeon Flux, I thought was pretty good.

Mr Robin....teach me the ways!...I love you work, always have. Just wondering if you've ever worked from ref and noticed that your work loses a bit of life or cartooniness. I think I've been working from reference too much these days and it's killing my style. Any advice oh wise one?

fantastic stuff! I love the volume and life in your work. Each plain of your structures is very solid.

I hope i can start thinking in more solid (fleshy and movable, however) forms like your's.

You are all way too kind!! thank you!!

Hey Tooninator,

Thanks for the kind werds!!! ummm.. i have used refference i think 5 times in the 3 month if i am not mistaken. I do sometimes feel it stiffens me up if i am trying to duplicate it, but it's when i just use it as a guide that i find it becomes liberating. I started using it recently to get me out of a slump and it seemed to give me the push i needed. generally speaking though i dont use it because most of my work is reallly pushed and doesnt lie in that realistic genre. i think the whole trying to copy it versus trying understand it is probably the issue for me. the difference being copying tends to flatten out your drawing because it a straight graphic 2d experience and "understanding" it is when you are looking at the structure and gesture and how the two come together when you are looking at the refference. I hope that makes sense, sorry if it didn't!!
