Seeing as how this month has Valentine's Day,
I wanted to stay away from the obvious but
keep with the theme.

So we'll be using songs to illustrate
or draw from...hope that makes sense.

Post your image and the lyrics to the song
that inspired you.

Moondance << link to Amazon sample

by Van Morrison

Well it's a marvellous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
to the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm tring to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft & low
You kow the night's magic
Seems to whisper & hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush...

Can I just have one a' more moondance
With you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance
With a' you, my love?

Well I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait till the morning has come
And I know the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true dear
There and then I will make you my own
And everytime I touch you
You just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that
you can't hide...

Can I just have one a' more moondance
With you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance
With a' you, my love?

Tis a cool sketch, i like how you have broken the norm for the last jam by making this a sequential, nice touch. Also have to say Moondance is probably one of my fave songs by Van morrison, that or the obvious Brown Eyed girl!

I can't wait for this jam to get started, hopefully i will have time to actually enter this one Very Happy

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
(by Elmo and Patsy)

CHORUS:
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me an' Grandpa, we believe.

She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
And we begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication,
And she staggered out the door
into the snow.

When we found her Christmas morning,
At the scene of the attack
She had hoof prints on her forehead,
And incriminating Claus marks
on her back.

(CHORUS)

Now we're all so proud of Grandpa,
He's been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football,
Drinking beer and playing cards
with cousin Mel.

It's not Christmas without Grandma,
All the family's dressed in black.
And we just can't help but wonder
Should we open up her gifts
or send them back?
SEND THEM BACK!!!

(CHORUS)

Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of fig (ahhhhh!)
And the blue and silver candles,
That would just have matched the hair
in Grandma's wig.

I've warned all my friends and
neighbours,
Better watch out for yourselves.
They should never give a license,
To a man who drives a sleigh
and plays with elves.

Sing it, Grandpa!

(CHORUS)

(Listen at Amazon.)

Delicate
by Damien Rice

we might kiss
when we are alone
when nobody’s watchin’
we might take it home
we might make out
when nobody's there
it's not that we're scared
it's just that it's delicate

so why d’ya fill my sorrow
with the words you've borrowed
from the only place you've known
why d’ya sing hallelujah
if it means nothin’ to ya
why d’ya sing with me at all?

we might live
like never before
when there's nothin’ to give
how can we ask for more?
we might make love
in some sacred place
that look on your face
is delicate

so why d’ya fill my sorrow
with the words you've borrowed
from the only place you've known
why d’ya sing hallelujah
if it means nothin’ to ya
why d’ya sing with me at all?

emceeONE - Fantastic start, Rajesh, and one of my favourite tunes too; Sirspamdalot - Very Happy Hilarious and a great drawing, to boot; Morningstar - A suitably restrained and delicate piece.

I've got a couple of ideas forming in my head already, hopefully I'll get them done before anyone else has the same.

ummmm hello! I was wondering, how goth is my frock??see I got a thing for horror movies and mope rock?but I can't shock my hair up (I ran out of stock)?and just like that, frontalot ran out of talk?it was tragic, unheard of, never seen, me:?out of rhymes when they usually come indefatigably?but me here talk good? no, bad talk do!?like my tongue got encrypted right before I lost root?like my small talk got box-rox0red on a prior boot?it's moot, she only dates guys in chokes and boots,?not brutes lacking eyeliner like I lack?but look, I'll put a little on plus lip shellac?just to stand next to that and dream about love?of necessity, that has always had to be enough?cause I can't talk to goth girls, i just stare and stammer?my name is mc frimmer frammer?and damn her if she giggles damn her double if she laughs?goth girls like it when you double-damn it twice fast
Goth girls, goth girls: they're the girls that go?to see the nerdcore rapper with the geeked out flow?at the show, you can see the black lace on parade?I met a hundred dozen of 'em but I ain't got laid
Got shunned by her at the Rocky Horror premiere?she steered clear of the nerd crowd but I heard loud in my ear?the disdain that she held for my type?always geeking on the computron -- I get hype?on the stage, she might notice me then and observe?that I'm "ironically hip in some flip universe"?and her purse in patent leather held in fishnet glove?could then contain mp3 player with the Front filled up?her name is nyteshaed, yo don't call her cherry tomato?she look like paisley tinkle but poisonous like topato?she says her hair got attacked cause it's black and it's blue?she got a johnny the homicidal maniac tattoo?legs all deep in the boots, boots all up on the heels?yes, the kind to make a certain type of fetishist squeal?the ordeal that I endure: this close to her splendor?yet besieged by my shyness; try this: I surrender!?I'll render my intentions in the usual way?(home alone, suicidegirls up on the cathode ray)

RODGUEN!!!!!

That IS AWESOME...........an amazing piece of work here and I must say that everyone is doing such interesting work that I really what to get in on this stuff so I will knock something out soon.

I've heard there is a drinking game that you can play to that police song as well.....you drink a shot in rotation around a table every time you hear the name ROXANNE but considering in the 3 minute timespan OL' STING says it like 26 times. I think that is an alcohol poisoning waiting to happen...

Will post sumthin soon.

First a little explanation for this Jam. It probably seems a lot more challenging than the other Jams, but I've noticed I do some of my favorite pieces when I have a song stuck in my head and hopefully that's true for others as well. It'll be exciting to see what you uber-talented folks come up with and to see what inspired it (or what song you think it goes with), imho.

So get that iPod blasting and start drawing.

Penn - thanks man. I had the damndest time figuring out who sang that song when I first heard it. It didn't help that the radio station never says who the artist is or what song they just played (or will be playing, for that matter). So it blew my mind when I found out it was Van Morrison. Glad you like.

Sirspamdalot - glad to see you posting. I dug your Irona pinup and this one is hilarious and nicely draw (the anatomy is sooo appealing here). Methinks Grandpa killed her though. Smile

Morningstar - nicely drawn expression on her face. Seems to suit the song nicely. I think if you work on your anatomy, you'd push your work to that next level.

Euan - thanks, guy. Can't wait to see what you come up with. I've already got an idea for my next one thanks to your post.

Maverikanim - Haha. Cool. Never heard of nerdcore before. I'll have to give the song a listen.

Rodolphe - That's a sharpie? Shocked Looks like something out of a BD. Love everything about it: composition, her expression, the lighting, his expression. Well, I love everything but the font. Razz

Pedro - I know that Zombie thread's got your attention (great work, btw). But I hope you join.

more to come.

Rajesh - Great thread idea, that's one of my faves too and a wonderfully sexy drawing, Morningstar - I love her hurt expression, Sirspamdalot - Nice! Laughing, Maverikanim - Fantastic design and great characters! and last but DEFINITELY not least...
Rodolphe - Shocked insert what Rajesh said!

emceeone: Good idea, and nice drawing.

sirspamdalot: Hahaha, pure awesome. Great idea!

Morningstar: Not sure I know that song...depressing, though.

maverikanim: I love MCfrontalot. Havent heard any of his latest stuff, though. What a great drawing! Fantastic colors, as well.

RodGuen: Wow....really moody piece. great job!

Actually, I did a drawing the other night that was inspired by a song, but the subject matter it would seem is not appropriate for this thread, since it does not feature a female character. For those interested anyway, Here's a link.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they did it with expert timing

(repeat)..make sure you have expert timing
Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning

EmceeOne - I love this picture. The scenery is beautiful and the characters are well done as well.

SirSpam - This one is hilarious. I laughed out loud here at work Smile

Maverikanim - I love the style of this piece..and there's always a place in my heart for the hot goth girl.

Rod- I think her lighting the cigarette before he's finished is a really nice touch. Great lines and use of blacks too.
