Frazetta::sketches n pinupsNSFW Update12may

Postby Pencilpusher » Mon Jan 23, 2012 8:20 pm

hello everyone, what a long time it has been.
If anyone cares, I spent last year and a half (almost 2) working on this indie game called "Vessel" and it is finally getting wrapped up and will be released on steam, and later on XBLA and PSN.

It was a full time job that was labor of love and was not paying much, so I had to take other full time jobs to see myself survive financially through this adventure, which meant that, at any given time, I was plowing through 70- 90 hours of work a week, just to get it all done.
That left me very little time to do my own stuff, so eventually I just gave up and focused at work I had to do.
Now it is easing up a little, and I am slowly coming back to having fun with pencils and whatnot.
So here is another Frazetta practice I did yesterday (a bit rough around the edges as I have not done any of these in months) and I hope to do more and better stuff, and share it around soon :)

I missed everyone and will be sniffing around and catching up in days and weeks to come.

Cheers to all,

MIlenko

Huzzah- you're back! What a great piece- and that's one of my favorite Frazetta works as well. I was mesmerized by it as a child, staring at it in book racks, oblivious to disapproving adults. :)

Love the execution, and the action here, Milenko!

Hey man, I know what you mean about working extra to keep the bills paid. I'm freelancing now and I struggle to keep the jobs coming in, and when they do, I try to take more than one at a time.

Glad you're posting again!

Thanks heaps guys :)
It is good to be slowly back :)

Here are a few more really rough sketches,

And Scruffy, and whoever else is keen,

here is the link to the youtube video of the trailer and a few other bits and bobs about the game we have put together so far:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmwidqe1T4A&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

There are 4 videos in total under the tab above so if you are keen take a look.
Art style is somewhat different from my usual stuff and the final game, when you play it, looks and feels much better than the video footage :)
Entire game was made by 4 people and only 2 artists did all the art.
I art directed, did all the concepts, some normals, most colourmaps and built all the worlds and Mark Filipelli (the other artsit and friend) did most of the normal maps and particles.
The game is a puzzle platformer with about 10 hours worth of the gameplay, less if you are a genius :)

Game goes on sale on March the first on Steam.
I hate plugs and this sounds like one,
We run out of money about 6 months ago but we kept on working until it is finished (still a few weeks to go). So there is no marketing budget to speak of, and pretty much everyone invested in the game is broke by now.
So, (but only if) you like what you see of the game, please tell the others and spread the word.

Thank you all again,

Cheers,

Milenko

And there will be :)
And soon.
Vessel has been finished for good! and it on sale now.
I am stressed and nervous like hell :)

http://www.strangeloopgames.com/

there is a store widget a little bit down the page
For people paying in euros, I understand that it is cheaper to purchase here than to get it off the steam.
and this is the steam store page:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/108500/

Just saying :)
Now that it is all done, life's going to be weird.
Upside is that whether I want it or not, I am pretty much unemployed and plan to do lots and lots of drawings, most of them girly :)
Downside is that I am pretty much jobless and broke but hey, I am happy where I am.
As for this post I will finish it with the vessel Wallpaper and I will throw in two girls next time, to compensate for the lack of any in this post :)
Forum crops it to one side, but if you save the image it should be full size and proper, or rightclick and go - view image :)

Cheers to all and all the best,

Milenko
