ShatteredArt - a new kind of art

Postby ShatteredArt » Thu Aug 18, 2011 9:08 pm

Hello all!

My name is Craig Scott. I'm somewhat new to the board (first post...but have stalked it for inspiration and such for a couple years or so now lol) and wanted to share with you something that a buddy of mine and myself have been working on. It's a process of controlling the shatter of glass to form images. We've decided to title this...ShatteredArt. Anyway...comments and crits are so very much welcome! Hope you enjoy! :)

Very cool, I like it.

Have you considered putting LEDs along the side of the glass? It would illuminate and color the shattered glass. Could be a very cool effect and add another dimension to your work.

The following link may give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

iceguy,

thanks! :) and yes edge lighting is definitely something we've been thinking about from the start! we've sorta tested it out and we believe it could bring a whole 'nother life to our pieces. only thing holding us back from testing out a few ways right now is time/money. really hoping someone will order a piece to be done in it to give us that excuse to take the first leap! ;)

thanks again for checkin' out our work!

I really like this idea, how did you come up with it?

I've done some work with Barbed wire and razor wire things before looking for that kind of effect, it gives that element of controlled chaos that I like to see.

Awesome concept! :)

The "Earth and Moon" and "Hands" pieces stand out the most to me, I think because those shapes lend themselves well to stylization and abstraction. The words and slogans are good for commissions, but to bring the art form to its fullest potential I would try shapes and scenery/objects that can be abstracted.

Using lighting effects could add a lot of personality. If used a certain way, say using certain types of lighting to create a specific mood, emotion even. :)
