My Latest stuff!!!!

In light of the recent drop off in posts here, and the fact that it was brought up in a recent thread, I've decided to post my stuff here again. In this post are my latest three caricature projects, yeah, just three in as many months. I have noticed, not only are there less caricatures being shown off here on drawingboard.org, but my once steady stream of caricatures has slowed to a trickle.

So. In an attempt to reinvigorate this corner of the forum, and my Wacom, Ive decided to do at least a caricature a Day till the end of the Year. ( i just thought of that, so lets see how that pans out ) Hopefully i'll have some nicely finished paintings at least once a week. most days will be a sketch, maybe of the same person if i'm not satisfied with one. I'll be leafing through my DVD collection and drawing from the movies that i like the best, maybe some musicians and some bands, cause i find it BORING as hell to draw some arbitrary celebrity any more.

Oh, and as always, I love to hear any critique, as I'm always willing to go back into my work and try something else.


anyway, like i said, here's my backlog to get things started off. we have, the stars of the shows 'Wilfred' and 'Breaking bad' and the Movie 'Drive'

That's an excellent Ryan Gosling! I don't think I've seen any caricatures of him before.

As for the others, I'm not familiar enough with the guy who plays Wilfred to comment, but I'd suggest your Elijah Wood and your Bryan Cranston could use a bit more wok. I can tell it's them, but something seems not quite right. In both cases, from the eyes up seems right, but then there's something in the lower parts of the faces that ruins the likenesses a bit.

I don't think i've seen one of Gosling either, he's got a pretty good face for caricature too.

i know what you mean with the Elijah Wood, i always have a rough time getting him right. and i think with Cranston i might have gone a little too generic when it came to certain features, the mouth included.

So, tonight's sketch is a revisit. Took an old pencil and paper sketch i did of Michael Caine as he appeared in 'Get Carter' and revamped it almost completely. what a got is a slightly more serious image but is much more structurally sound and, to me, really has a good likeness so far.

So, the other day 'The Mummy' was on tv, and of course i had to watch it. While it's just a cheesy action adventure, 'the Mummy' is one of my favorite movies.

here's a quick one of the two stars, Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser. and man, did i underestimate how hard to caricature Weisz is, jeez.

Once again, saw a movie on amc and figured it'd make for a good caricature. Tonight's Feature, 'Seven'. Here are the stars, Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. these interpretations are VERY tame compared to my other versions of the same faces, but i still think they work pretty well.

My favourite is the Ryan Gosling, even though I get him mixed up with Ryan Reynolds - your caricature will help me differentiate between the two.

There's a reason why it might be particularly difficult to caricature Rachel Weisz as she appears in The Mummy - for that movie she had her (normally quite thick) eyebrows plucked, so she looks slightly unlike herself. You still managed to capture her.

Jub- I'm surprised to hear that you don't think Freeman is quite right, i thought at least likeness wise, that it was pretty solid.

So, nothing new tonight, personal matters took up my spare time today. however here are some sketches from a commission that i'm working on currently. Their personal guitar heroes (David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, LArry Carlton, Pete Townsend and Andy Summers). some feedback is always appreciated

yeah, so family business made me miss a couple of days already, but i'm back at it and will keep posting everyday. this one is John Malcovich as Teddy KGB in the movie 'Rounders', one of my favorite movies ever.

Can't say I'm familiar with all the guitarists, but those which I am (Page, Townsend, Summer) are spot on.

The Malkovich is hilarious. It'd be great taken to a finished state.
