How do they do that?

So can anyone please let me know how they get this grittyness to this poster?

I have been trying to figure it out but have come away empty handed. I try using noise but it doesn't get the same effect.

Any help would be great.

I'd would try using a UV filter cleaned "Armour Etch". I haven't tried this myself but a similar technique was used in the filming of Saving Private Ryan.
