Vicki Lawrence/Thelma Harper (Mama's Family)

For some reason I always seem to select mostly long forgotten celebrities to caricature. I think I choose them because I know they're not being overly drawn by everyone, and are faces that are generally still recognizable from a pop culture standpoint.

Here we have Vicki Lawrence as "Mama"/Thelma Harper, a character originating on The Carol Burnett Show and eventually featured in her own sitcom called Mama's Family.

Anyone remember her?

I've never heard of Vicky Lawrence or Thelma Harper.

After Googling some images, I'm torn on the likeness. As a caricature of Vicky Lawrence, it doesn't seem to follow her face shape (from the images I've seen), but it looks as though she pulled a certain expression as Thelma Harper which did elongate the chin and make it appear more pointed than her face normally was. So, it could work as a caricature of the character rather than the actress.

I can't really say any more than that, as I'm only going by a couple of photos.

i remember her vividly, and em's analysis is spot-on. good caricature of the caricature, because she did, indeed, always pull that same face as mama. but yeah, if you were doing a caricature of vicki herself, you'd have to focus on different features, especially as she actually had a pretty small, receding chin that she always thrust forward and downward to play the character.
