cats and lions

Postby shuggypudd » Sun Aug 15, 2010 12:38 am

Its gonna be rough not having frank around. I started drawing these cats from frazetta and then did one of my own. I'd like to see what anyone else has done in the way of homage drawings.

Thanks!

So I saw this post on the frazetta and fantasy art forum. In it someone had a interview where someone questioned crumb about a drawing he did after frazetta and crumb had to say his style was mindless. I like crumb, but it got me to thinking of how off that coment was. I would not say mindless at all but I would say fucused. ..It is a style I have not grown tired of. I'd love to see others efforts.

I love the bulk and the gesture of these... and I'm not lion! ... okay I couldn't help myself... sorry... hahaha... okay really... please don't hate me. :)

Great stuff! I definitely see some Frazetta-esque shapes to all these and didn't pick any one out and think "Oh that must be the one he did straight from himself", they've got a great loose style but just loose enough to be perfect.

These are really nice Frazetta-esque sketches. I wanted to let you know about the Frazetta tribute thread in the GIRLS section:

Nice work again, shuggypudd! I like your sculptures on your blog site too.

Love how you caught the action of the pose. Great gesture and movement.
