SPOILERS:

Saw it lastnight in IMAX 3D. My hats go off to all the Artists that worked on it but in the end, i was disappointed. Like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
They hyped the Jabbawocky so much through out the movie, and when you actually see him in the show down at the end, it's a let down. They fight on a Chest board but there was no Chest playing. The reviewers were correct in saying that Johnny Depp was upstaged by Helen.
That dance he does at the end was sooooo silly and just comes out of no where. LOL

On a side note. It was interesting seeing the severed heads in the moat and the caterpillar smoking his ass off in a PG rated Disney Film LOL. I almost forgot what you can push with that rating.

I think this film is almost a stinker.
Certainly Tim Burton's worst.
I liked his Apes a great deal more.
(I know!!!).

It had its moments, but overall it doesn't sit well for me.

The dance was shockingly stupid, and the dialogue at the end was too contrived in search of an ending... the things she said didn't hold context to anybody else there, so really, nobody would let her go on like that.

And the comparison of the twins to the Tweedles (who were the highlight for me!)? The twins were absolutely nothing like the Tweedles, beside the fact they're twins... nice one, Alice.

I thought it was alright. The characters were flat and insipid and the story dull but there wasn't anything bad.... until the dance. That part was fucking baffling. So it's a passable film if you cut out everything after the dragon is slain, assuming you like excessive cg. For me, knowing that all the danger was cg and none of the actors were on stage together robbed the film of any tension.

And what was with all the eye stabbing? Fucking gross.

I had absolutely no issue with it at all. I went to the theater assuming I would leave it ready to bitch about Tim ruining the Alice saga, but, as I said, I ended up entertained. My favorite character was the Cheshire Cat. Who's responsible for his voice? He was magnificent.

OK, so I have one complaint. Waaaay too much fucking CGI. Every goddamn thing was CG'ed. It was absolutely ridiculous CGing Crispin Glovers body. Yes he was unusually tall and thin, but fuck it. Let him use his own body. Jesus. And agreed, the Depp dance at the end was lame bordering on embarrassing. So make that two complaints.

"And what was with all the eye stabbing? Fucking gross."

It was gross compared to, say, an episode of Barney The Dinosaur, or gross compared to a scene from a Tarantino flim or your typical horror film where someone gets their head blown off and we see their brain chunks dripping from the wall? Point being, if the eyeball scenes grossed you out in Alice, do NOT look at ANY episodes of South Park where plucked-out eyeballs come with blood and arteries as opposed to the clean G-rated manner in which it was dealt with in Alice. Let's get some balls here, dude.

If the film had been called "Fatima Goes to Strangeland" or something like it, I may have enjoyed it more.
What it had to do with Alice In Wonderland beyond a few similar names is beyond me.

The cat was voiced by British actor and wit, Stephen Fry.
He's in about 4 collected minutes of the film and it's a shame he's not in more.

Ashton's a dudette, dude.

And yeah Crispin's awkward CG body really pissed me off (as did Bonham Carter's terrible acting)

Yeah. I don't need balls, I'm fine with my vagina.

What do Barney, Tarantino, or South Park have to do with me not liking large, 3D eyes being stabbed and plucked out?

Sorry about that Ashton. If you're grossed out you're grossed out and I shouldn't make an issue of it.

And I thought Helena gave the very best performance in the movie (which, I know, isn't saying much). I thought she was spot-on with this character, especially the way she'd switch from a tyrannical witch to a doe-eyed love-struck school girl every time she'd look up to Mr. Eye Patch. Just like "Sweeney Todd" I thought she made the movie.

I went into the movie thinking Alice looked like a cross between a heroin addict and Tobey Maguire in drag but I really enjoyed her performance. Maybe it was because everyone around her was so god awful.

The gal who played Alice is in a drama series here called In Treatment.
No idea if it's played back home.
In it, she's incredibly good (she's also an Aussie).
In Alice, I think she was lost, mostly due to poor direction.

I agree with others that Helena BC was great.
I think she's the only good thing about it.

I liked it well enough. I don't really plan on seeing it again ever but I was entertained at the time. My favorite part was the end where Alice turned into Link from Legend of Zelda and killed the boss. Although I did groan when he said off with your head and then almost got up and left early with that dance. Although I did think it funny that everyone was subjected to it. Tropic Thunder all over again.

I thought it was enjoyable, but completely forgettable.
The only reason I'm still thinking about it is because it's such a visual feast.

I liked the characters,I actually think they improved on them by giving them some personality. But like the original book, they're stuck in a story that's basically nonsense. So there's nothing there to keep me engaged.

It reminded me a lot of Return to Oz, but with even less charm than that film had.
Maybe this one might've had more charm to if it also was done with some actual sets and some muppetry.

While I thought the dance at the end was ludicrous, I didn't think it was as cringe worthy as that Avril Lavigne song blaring from the speakers right after the final shot.
