Hey! That was really cool! i liked all the meta references and the flow from drawing animation to the people interacting with it sort of showing the method. Very cool.

My only suggestion would be that you correct the white balance to give the animation continuity. It was mostly the same kind of lighting, but then there were some shots that shift suddenly to a yellowish color cast. I'm guessing that the natural light was lost due to the sun going down and incandescent lighting was used. But you can only correct the color balance after the fact if you shot in RAW.

but anyway, that's a minor technical issue, overall I liked it a lot! Very fun to watch

hi eldrich9,

and thanxxx for your com(pli)ments and critique!

we have actually changed the colours in every single frame, but didn't choose to bring the whites together totally, since the project took place over a longer period of time and you could follow me live in my studio painting it day and night, so we like the fact that you can still see this in the animation

PS the animation is now also on YouTube and yes we can def use you all to get some more views and ratings in ;)

my pleasure. i would certainly take my post as a compliment more than a critique. I did like how the lighting changed showing the clouds passing over, and the switch from night to day, but I was only specifically referring to maybe one or two frames where it pops into yellow. But its really a personal preference since the video is kind of like a video scrapbook or something.

anyway, i just sent the youtube link to my girlfriend, we'll see if she likes it too :)

cool, i'm hoping your girlfriend is of the gossiping type then :)

at the end of the animation the day-to-night switch actually just happened and we then deciced to use it. those frames are stop motion of me drawing the (almost) last frame from the webcam feed's point-of-view made in one night.
in the rest of the animation all the frames are pjotographed much longer apart; with making the canvas white and painting it over every time, i could paint a max of 2 sometimes 3 frames per day and sometimes there's a few days between two frames. this all depended on my daytime job, other works and the flow of sent-in stuff

oh and i didn't mean critique in a negative way, since critique can be both positive and negative, or at least that's the case in the Dutch language

She did like it, but she's not the gossiping type. ha. sorry. neither am I really...
but this has inspired me to think about doing something similar. if i ever get around to it, which would probably be a very long time, i'll share it on this forum.
