They say you should never hit a man with a closed fist, but it is, on occasion, hilarious.

G-Force and fucking Alvin are the reference points they're making to NIMH!?

God, this is like a direct arrow into the heart of my childhood.

Holy crap, how long have they had Secret of Nimh on Hulu?!

I know what I'M doing tomorrow as I flat my comic page...

Also...why in the hell are they doing a live action/animation hybrid?

And why in the hell are we even revisiting it?! I thought it was perfectly fine the way it was...

I joked once about how the well of ideas in Hollywood ran damn near dry, but this pretty much proves it...

Hollywood has been remaking movies as long as they've been making them. Dozens of original movies still get made every year. Some of them are even good.

Also, remaking a movie doesn't eradicate the original from existence nor does it destroy its goodness.

I have great fondness for The Secret of Nimh (which, by the way, is from a book) but frankly, it's kinda boring.

I ought to rewatch it, it's been awhile. Never read the book though, keep forgetting it was made from one...

And yeah, I know we've been pumping remakes out for ages now, and we're still doing original movies. It just baffles me whenever I see them decide to remake something like this outta the blue.

I think what i remember most from the animated Nimh, was when Mrs. Brisbee gets cut on the cage wire, and you see blood. I think that was the first time i saw blood in an animated film. I rewatched it again a few years back, and i must agree with Rick that it was a bit boring. :|

Well, hopefully this'll mean that the original will come out on Bluray.

I first saw it several years ago and was baffled about its popularity. I bet the new film will be more entertaining.

I understand all the criticism of the original movie. It is definately slow but if you play the shoulder shrug drinking game it goes faster but then you miss a lot of the rotoscope pirate fight. Still, visually, it is beyond kick ass.

Oh man...the shoulder shrug...

I totally forgot how many times that happens in that movie (and a few other of Don Bluth's movies too...)

It's pretty much like playing the drinking game of how many times Luke is upside down in Empire Strikes Back.

Man, this just makes me sad. I can only hope they don't butcher it TOO badly. Still, they can't take my DVD's away from me, so I'll still have my original to enjoy.
