Hi to everyone, I just joined this forum and absolutely love the stuff I've seen on the site, can't wait to get to know you all better. So for my first post I had to contribute to the dragon thread, here is something I sketched recently while kicking ideas around for a mural in a baby's room (wife is due Oct 1 ^^) I liked this sketch enough I think I may do some more and make a kids book of it at some point.

Alchemist: Welcome to the board and thanks for making the dragon thread your first post! Also congrats on the new baby! Nice dragon, I am guessing by the bunny ears that this was easter inspired? I would love to see the finished mural as I am sure the rest of the board would like to as well.

WOW , i've only skimmed through but im loving all that ive seen.
I dont recall ever draing a dragon, but i may have.
My problem is making things up. im fine at drawing from a photo. making them up they never turn out how i see them in my head and i get frustrated.

saucy: probably 85% of us on here cant really draw well from our own imaginations. I would suggest that you look to the animal world for inspiration. Use reptiles, birds, cats, for reference material to come up with your own style of dragon. No body ever does anything perfect their first time either, so don't worry if you don't like what your putting down. Just keep drawing and heading any advice you get and you will get better. There are also some good dragon drawing sites out there as well. Here is one that got me started www.neondragonart.com

good luck and thanks for stopping by the thread!

aww thankyou .
I used to be confident in my drawing, but ive had my confidence knocked and let my drawing ability slip.
Thats why i joined some drawing threads to get my confidence back and begin drawing again. Not to get my ego stroked, i admire honesty. But i got all but slated at one point for my drawing , no one could say 'i like it' all had to pick at something.
Id love to dragon a good dragon for my step son. He was born in the year of the dragon so is obsessed with dragons, we read cressida cowell stories about hiccup horrendous haddock and his dragon friends. :D dream works have actually picked one of her books to become a film its out either nov this year or march next year i believe. 'How to train your dragon' ive gone off topic

Alex, That is freakin awesome! So it's either a small dragon or a huge Vespa.

Great work.

I like suicide commando's. Actually, that kinda reminds me of a doodle I made. It was about a giant Orc-ish thing vs. the "heroic" elven army. It wasn't a masterpiece, but I like how the Elves i made were cute and scared little things brandishing carrots for weapons. I oughta upload that.

Btw, that sculpture sends mine to tears, Atomic Terrier. Epic win.

Loving the additions here, ECL, that's really nice. BridgetV, love it, reminds me of one I did as a wood burning on a wooden knife blade as a teenager. I wish I still had that thing (although in my head it's probably infinitely more beautiful than it ended up in real life. 8) )
