But...why does Kirk look like Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) at the beginning of the trailer? Is Abrams suggesting a possible relationship between the two characters? Perhaps Tasha is Kirk's mother in an alternate timestream? I'm curious to see how that plays out. Does anyone know if Denise Crosby is listed in the credits?

oh great bird of the galaxy let this not suck

I think I'm beyond caring whether or not it's a good star trek movie, all I really want is a good sci-fi movie...so far it looks kinda cool

ps, regarding steamy sex scene: if you're gonna put slash in this thing, you might as well have made it spock and kirk and gotten it over with. sheesh

this website does an extremely obsessive examination of the trailer. it looks like it looks like i was wrong about an apparent uhura/kirk hookup (there's a lot of speculation about what clues the trailer gives about the movie's plot so if you consider that a SPOILER, be forewarned) :

http://io9.com/5091679/trailer-reveals-whos-hooking-up-with-kirk-and-why-scottys-all-wet

on a totally unrelated note, i do have to give a tip of the hat to abrams and his team for coming up with a really cool take on the transporter effect.

Dont know if this is true or not, but apparently Star Trek: Enterprise will be referenced:

Footage of the J.J. Abrams 2009 Star Trek film reveal that he will be referenced, as Montgomery Scott will receive punishment stemming from an incident involving a transporter and "Admiral Archer's dog."

 this movies getting better and better! Maybe something cross between the transporter accident in the original movie and The Fly 2.

Trailer has been updated with a little extra somethin' somethin'.

Nice!

I know the kid lost control of the car, but the editing totally makes it look like he ditched it on purpose.
And then he's all puffy at the cop.

Kirk's a jerk. Baby Kirk, anyway.

I liked the split second where's he's all "buckle up", but all the smoldering eye action blunts my nerdgasm. Don't know whether I'm supposed to admire him or want to make out.
Do chicks like dudes who look like they're beat up 24/7?

Besides all that, I'm excited for the flick!
Maybe someone else can do a Star Wars re-start....BURRRRNNNN

I'm not at all a Trekkie or a Trekker, but fuck me, I'm hot for this one.

gave me the goose bumps. gonna have to watch this. perfect amount of explosions, and more lens flares than you can shake stick at. hopefully it lives up to this trailer.
