Your drawings have great volume. I really like your use of negative space to emphasize the depth of your figures. the erased contour lines are getting a little distracting though.
I like that you are starting to do faces more too. Any portraits?
Thanks for posting , your amazing!

Artistt - Thanks for the feed back. I admit I do get a bit heavy handed on the contour lines. And when I photograph them it emphasizes it even more. I will watch that more closely on my next go around.

Anyway, thanks again for the feed back. Drawing the figure is always a pleasure (and struggle) and I appreciate everyones comments and critiques.

Ok - it has been quite a while since I last posted, but here is the latest figure drawing. I have to admit I struggled a bit with this one.

its beautiful, love the fleshy tones
its sometimes good to struggle, then to be shown that effort was so worth it, you should be proud of the outcome.

You are too damn good! Went back through all these and am blown away by the natural expressions, beautiful posing, shading, and line work. One thing that seems to stand out is how you tend to shade, it's kinda striped but in a tonal way, I really like it. Keep on with the good work!

Thanks Saucey and Sabe.

I have really started to watch how prominent my strokes are in the shading. People have mentioned that it is a bit heavy handed and I think they are right. Although the photos really emphasize the stroke and make it more harsh then it really is, I still can see that it is a bit labored. So many thanks to all those who have passed along C&C. I do listen and and try to improve with every drawing I do.

I don't agree about them being heavy handed, the shading is unique. Maybe you can lighten up a little on the next one to see how it goes but don't lose how you shade in general.

Just adding another to the thread. Hope figure drawing isn't dead out there - This topic seems to get the very least posts. One or two a week it looks like. I still enjoy it though, when I can squeeze it in.

Your sense of design and placement is really strong in these drawings. Really pops the negative shape around the figure well. Also great touch with the values.

Nice and delicate, that last one. I'd watch for where you increase the contrast, because in a piece that delicate, the contrast goes a long way towards indicating depth and weight. Make sure you're placing it where it will say what you mean.
