From Grandpa with love

Postby Salvor » Thu Dec 04, 2008 7:45 am

Hello Drawing Board folks,

I'm slowly getting back on track to post more around here. Here are a couple of pages (WIP actually, but close to finished) and some roughs from a 46 page comic book I've been drawing for a French magazine. I guess the title could be translated as "From Grandpa with love", and it's about the adventures of a 13-year old with his grandfather, former spy for the French government, now retired but healthier than ever !

Please let me know what you think. Plenty more roughs on my blog: http://commedesguilis.blogspot.com/

8) 8) 8) wonderful, Romain!
Ca fait plaisir de te revoir ici!

Very nice pages and super dynamic roughs.
I can see a few flaws in the "angle" choices, but it' s all good nevertheless.

ps> tu veux que je te montres ce que je veux dire sur les angles?
Si tu veux pas, je comprendrai completement.

Yes ! Great pages !
But I have already told it to you on your blog !!!
I'm still "in love" with your "Eiffel Tower" page, I love the deformation of the perspective !
C'est du tout bon !
On croise les doigts pour une sortie en album !

emceeONE> It's been a while ! Thanks for posting old chap.

RodGuen> You dare question my angle choices ?! MY angles ?!! And you're totally right :D Although I've done a lot of studying by myself, I've never taken a single sequential art course, so my paneling and "camera" positioning come from my own personal instincts. Hopefully, sometimes, these instincts get it right. But they're likely to generate flaws as well ! Please show me what you mean when you have a moment (by email or here - I'm sure everyone will be interested). Merci mille fois mon ami !

Gunt> Merci merci.

First of all I am in love with the concept of this to start off. I truly wish that there were more books about fun sounding concepts than the typical good vs. evil.
I really like the palette, but I always grow fond of what the french palette looks like. I only can hope that I can find this book somewhere stateside.

Thanks a lot guys !

I just realized with great shame that I forgot to mention this is not my script - the amazing Thierry Gaudin wrote the entire thing :)
