If I remember correctly, if you have a wireless network already set up in your house, then your ps3 can just hook right up to it, since it has a built in wireless capability.

Otherwise, if you have a regular router or something, it would plug directly into that with an ethernet cord. I think those are the only options, if your computer just plugs directly into the internet, I'm not sure if there's a workaround without buying additional hardware, though a quick search will turn something up.

I recently went through this whole deal. My cable modem didn't like my plugging directly into it since it can only handle one thing at a time without a router. So I picked up a Linksys brand wireless router. With some more fiddling, finally got it to work. And wireless is definitely the way to go. My modem is across the room from the PS3 so one less gigantic wire is good news.

You'll have to do some Googling and browse the PS3 forums until you find your solution. Everyone's had the same problems with different configurations.

Also, I found out during this whole thing that ethernet ports can go bad. So I had to buy a new pci card with an ethernet port.
