Hulk #7

Postby Captain Genius » Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:00 pm

In one corner we have Art Adams drawing the adventures of Bruce Banner.
In the other corner we have Frank Cho drawing the Legion of Boobs.

I can't really comment on the story, cause, really who the fuck cares?
Though it is bullshit that Moon Knight could pierce Joe Fixit's skin. Ooops Spoiler.

Anyway, I hate to turn this into who's a better artist, but, when Art Adams is on, he is pretty much untouchable.
It's like he went into this thinking I can't let Cho show me up.
Each panel just drips with bad assedness.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of this comic.

Each artist only has to draw a cover, 10 sequential pages and a pin up at the end.
Let's see how long both of them can keep that up.

I thought Art's part was decent.

I think Cho is way overrated and in my opinion most of his women look like men with fake boob and butt implants!

Plus all the sudden the gray hulks back. The writing on this book has been scary awful!

Didn't get my 2.99 and I get a discount. :(

There was a special a few months back that had a Hulk story drawn by Adams and a She Hulk story drawn by Cho. I remember thinking at the time that Art Adams was perfect for Hulk, and wondering why he hadn't drawn him more (the only example I could think of was a three issue Fantastic Four story way back)

I'll be buying this new issue.

I started reading this series before I read Planet Hulk (still got WWH to catch up on) so now I'm puzzled why Hulk's back to Dumb... on comic sites most people seem to be ripping Loeb a new one over it, and especially over the lies told about finding out Red Hulk's identity in #6.

But with 7, I didn't mind Joe Fixit returning. I'm not all that up on Hulk's history, but I bought that the Joe aspect of Banner's psyche could pop out because it was Vegas, night, and stuff was happening. It might even be nice to see similar stuff happen more often, where a 'different' Hulk appears depending on the situation. Not sure if they've ever done that, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I got it mostly for the Adams art, and it was fun but brief. Moon Knight going apeshit on Fixit was a bit odd.. did he miss the gaunt, furry monsters that Fixit was throwing around? The Cho part was ok. It was just a silly story and yet another excuse for Cho to draw boobs in action. We learned zip about Rulk, and that probably won't change anytime soon.

I know everyone seems to love Loeb, but I can't think of one thing he's written that I've cared for.
Except for the movie Commando.

Superman for All Seasons and Spider-man: Blue are pretty good.

In fact, it seems to be that if he does an out-of-continuity mini-series that's drawn by Tim Sale, then he's quite good; if he's doing an in-continuity, ongoing series, not drawn by Sale, then he's not so good.

Maybe he saves his best stuff for Sale, or maybe it's Sale who makes it good.

I was not impressed by The Long Halloween, so I didn't bother picking up the Superman or any of the other colored type stories.

I enjoyed the Batman stuff, and Superman For All Seasons is great... but, yeah. Not so impressed by the in-continuity stuff. Like Superman/Batman... for awhile I thought it was OUT of continuity, it was kinda bizarre and going all over the place... but, no.

I've read Superman:fas, Batman:Hush, And Hulk:Gray.

Superman:Fas was decent. I found the other 2 pretty awful!

The story needs work. As for the art. Adams is, by my opinion, the better of the two. Cho is good on women, which is all you see in his part of the book. Which I did not like. All the women look alike, with the exceptions of costumes. I hope they keep Art Adams on this book.
