Postal
Uwe Boll's epic.
I saw it tonight, just cause we wanted to rip on it.

I didn't hate it.

Any movie that opens with a 9-11 joke and features Dave Foleys naked penis should be enough to make my tender little ass outraged.
However this movie did make me laugh a few times.
Which is more than Tropic Thunder can say.
Yes, it's fucking retarded.
Yes, it's outrageous and shocking because this was Uwe Bolls middle finger to all his critics. But I've seen worse.
It's a stupid little juvenile black comedy.
It's also not a horrible film.
It wants so hard to be a giant fuck you to deciency, but it's such an epic fail in that aspect that it manages to be a fun movie despite it's self.

I'd rather watch it again than sitting thru Kingdom of the Crystal Skull one more time.
And it's shocks me to type that.

Did you know that movie theatres in the US banded together to keep it from ever reaching mass American audiences?

Not that I think the film is good, Uwe Boll films are usually garbage, but I did think that in a free society that movie theatres not movie-goers could decide what people should get to see.

movie theaters are private businesses that exist for the sole purpose of making money. they can do whatever the fuck they want. it's because we live in a free society that they have the option to do so

Movie theaters aren't run by the government, farouky. They can show or not show whatever the hell they want. They're just protecting their interests by not showing a movie with horrible baggage by a guy with a shit track record. Either way, it'll end up in a store for you to buy 20 copies of if you wish.

Don't you think forcing private bussinesses to show every movie despite the fact that they think they might lose money doing so takes away more freedom than allowing them to prvide whatever entertainment they wish or don't wish?

you misunderstand me gentle fellows

Theatre 's' banded 'together'.... now i don't have all the details but this strikes me as a little over zealous... a theatre (singular) deciding not to show it then fair enough... why the need to band together? Now that smells of motives other than fiscal and i don't mean the stinker of a movie (beat ya to it!)

Forcing private businesses to do what?
Come now itchy trigger finger fellas... that is hardly what i said is it?
Just taking umbridge with the apathy evident in 'they can do what the fuck they like...' surely that is the privilege of bandits and pirates.

I know I am probably deemed picky... but brothers and sisters we must stand against injustice whatever it's form.

rah rah... burn all flags etc

... i didn't mention the government.

in the US, i think "Theaters banding together" refers to like 2, maybe 3 companies at this point, that own every theater

I assure you that it's because they thought it would be an horrendous flop and there were too many other potentially successful money-making movies out this summer

Uwe Boll claims that it was banned in all but 4 theaters in the US because of controversial content. Uwe Boll also regularly claims that he's the greatest director that ever lived.

Most likely.

Boll is a huckster. Postal was never going to get a wide release, this was just part of his marketing scheme to try and drum up whatever interest he could for another one of his plainly terrible movies based on a plainly terrible videogame. I kind of admire his singleminded perseverance in the face of all logic.
