I'm still hooked on Fudge Pudge from Organized Konfusion's first LP.

Very spontaneous feel and lively. Classic.

Another album which is a classic but slept on is Mater Ace's "Take A Look Around" from
the summer of 1990.

Drugs....turns out that missingtoof site aren't hosting the MP3s anymore, at least I can't find any of The Rubs' stuff there.

A lil bit of googlejitsu found this link: http://bangthebox.net/2008/03/rub-radio-archives.html which seems to work.

Great find tho, banging mix!

Nice one.

RIck.... Classicsickness is...well, sick too. Lovin it.

Dude, I was well depressed when I went and discovered the MP3s on the Rub blog were defunct, so my gratitude is soaring with this archives link you found==and for Drugs for finding the original site. I've been playing these classics alll night long.

Kinda hard to believe those songs by Special Ed, Gangstarr and Brand Nubians and a bunch others were from the 90s. I would have swore the mid/late 1980s.

Lester I was lucky to find that archive, I was about to give up the ghost. They're good tracks but I was hoping for more....mixing, I suppose. More individual, unique mixes like Jaguar Skills does. He only does 10 min sets on 1Xtra but, damn it all, that's some genius abilities.

I don't know much about this Classic hip-hop Hellboyone, If I had to buy one album to blow the socks off a newbie what would it be?

A Tribe Called Quest's Low End Theory. Throw it on, put on your head phones, and crank it to 11.

Here's my suggestions. The lyrical wordplay of the first one is brilliant beyond description. To this day Rakim is still considered the most emulated rapper that ever lived and that title is pretty much based upon this one album.

Image

People say the west coast created gangsta rap, but wasn't "Criminal Minded" quite a few years before Ice T and NWA?

Image

The sampling on The Beastie Boys' "Licensed to Ill" is a musical masterpiece mosaic. Rick Ruben sampled from the Mr. Ed and Green Acres theme songs and it all WORKED!

Image

There's also Public Enemy, Run-DMC, LL Cool-J, Notorious BIG (his one and only album is a MUST have).
