this is probably one of my favorite movies EVER made

I couldn't believe how affected emotionally I was by it

And I was constantly blown away visually

I suppose on a second viewing I could start to nit-pick, but I've been thinking about it nonstop since I saw it and I can only remember positive things about it. During watching, there was absolutely nothing to pull me out of the film at all

I felt more within the first twenty minutes of this film than any other movie i saw this year. Wall-E is by far the cutest most likeable character to come out of animation in a long time. Unfortunately i didn't feel that the brilliance of the first act carried over to the rest of the film. While the interactions between Wall-E and Eve were pitch perfect the other characters fell flat for me. The "villain" in particular seemed forced into the film. With that said, the parts that do work are so mind blowing that it's easy to look past its flaws.

The use of real actors vs. animated actors is a big sticking point for me. I wish it didn't bother me, but it does. It might have been different if they'd never gone back to showing Fred Willard. But not only did they go back to him, they had the captain watching him. It's just a really weird decision and I would love to hear Andrew Stanton's justification for it.

Also, the live aciton stuff didn't bother me at all for some reason

My girlfriend, who uses a mac pretty exclusively, whispered to me during the film "That's why he's the only one left. All the other ones were PCs."

I really liked the use of live action.

But then I really like Fred Willard.

I like Fred Willard, too. And I get the "Hello Dolly" connection and the reasons why they went that way. It doesn't make it any less weird. And I'm surprised that it got all the way to actually being the way it is. Usually, if anything is even remotely confusing, it's shut down. In a way, it's a ballsy move.

As for the Mac start-up noise, I think they were just throwing Steve Jobs a bone. Which made me roll my eyes a little.
