Try Batman #668-669 which was the 'League of Batmen' story drawn by JH Williams III.

I love Seaguy! It's packed with just enough Morrison madness and moves at a pace that doesn't feel rushed or make you feeli like you're missing something. (like Vinarama - which was poo)

I must confess I do like the way that Seaguy sits as a single trade head fuck. It gives you just enough information to understand it and to hint at bigger and much more sinister things.

But I trust that you guys will do awesome things because there is so much potential there. That's the problem with Morrison's work - it's all so thought out and packed with ideas and history that it feels like it's spilling out of the 4 or 3 issue run its given and you feel shortchanged - Sebastian O is a good example of this.

ahhh...

Oh man, I would love to sit down with a group of comic nuts who have read The Filth and The Invisbles and pick it all apart. The Filth is magical I tellz ya- Magical!

I highly suggest reading the discussions at www.barbelith.com in the "Comics" section. Very thorough examinations of most of Grant's work.

from Barbelith (thanks cameron!)...

?It?s so much fun,? said Morrison. ?The other ones are hard work because you are doing other people?s characters and trying to be faithful. But this is my own stuff. I originally thought about it as three books. The first book was his childhood. And it?s the idea that you?re quite ignorant and you just want to have adventures. And you have all your talking pals and imaginary friends. So that was the child Seaguy. This is the teenage version of Seaguy. It?s quite dark and gloomy and glossy and weird but it?s quite funny, as well. And the final one is a mature adult, so it?s a different version again. But it?s basically just this guy growing up and finding out the truth about things.?

So we can expect Seaguy 3 as well?

?Yes, we are going to get to finish the story,? Morrison confirmed. ?Which is great. People will finally get to understand it! Some of the stuff that they didn?t get in first one is obviously cleared up by events in the second.?

The three stages of life? That, my friends, is awesome.

If you're heading to SDCC you can pick up this little beauty by Drugmassacre's favourite artist Rian Hughes.

Image

Contained within the pages of 'Yesterday's Tomorrows' are, amongst other things, Rian's collaborations with Grant Morrison; 'Dare', their early 90s reworking of classic British comic book hero Dan Dare and 'Really & Truly', a sort of "Emma Peel meets the Prisoner in a Clockwork Orange" type of thing.

Just head on over to the Top Shelf/ Knockabout booth in Indie Alley.

Morrison can do no wrong...I just wish he and Titan books could sort something out so the Zenith TPB's can get a re-print.

Cameron, any idea what the problem is with Morrison and the publishers over the Zenith stuff????

All you Seaguy keenoids need to head over to Grant-morrison.com and check out the news section. Lotsa sketches and teaser images from the next SeaGuy.

Cameron - It looks Juicy! Cannot wait.

I'm v. stoked that Grant is blogging as well. Can't wait to hear his (hopefully) regular take on the world at large. Magic awaits!

Grant has a blog? Where?

Was just re-reading my Invisibles, after reading some interviews with Morrison that were conducted around the time of the Invisibles on barbelith and I can only hope to see some future Invisibles books in the works. But I am sure SeaGuy will blow my mind and instead of Invisibles I'll be requesting more Sea Guy.

I'm also very curious about Morrison scripts. When talking to Gene Ha, he said that the scripts were pretty loose, but he has talked to some people where they are very structured. Anyone know (Cameron?)?

www.grant-morrison.com - signup and go to The Head section. There's only two posts so far so we can hope he keep sit updated regularly.

As for more Invisibles - I doubt very much we'll see more. The whole thing was wrapped up and finishedso tightly that the only way I can see more is if Grant waits till after 2012 and continues the story from there.

Actually...that might be quite cool.

Have you read "Anarchy for the Masses"? It's a massive annotation of the entire Invisibles series. Bit dense, but worth it for the behind the scenes insight and interviews.

Re: Zenith

Postby Peter Doherty » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:03 pm

As far as I understand the situation with Zenith, it's a problem between Grant and Rebellion, who now control all the 2000AD characters, over ownership.

Titan have no part in the problem at all--- they were just the publishers of the original collections in the 1980s, and when it came up for reprint a few years ago they again had the 2000AD reprint license.

The problems stem from the company that published the work originally, I think it was IPC at the time Zenith was created. For one reason or another there are several instances, Zenith being one of them, where work was created without a contract so that's left subsequent ownership in limbo, and thus, in the intervening years, up for argument.
I think that's why no reprints until some agreement is reached.
But I wouldn't hold your breath.

Although it may be apocryphal, I have heard there was a print run languishing in a warehouse somewhere that couldn't be released because of the trouble, only a few copies got out when Steve Yeowell did a signing.

I just met Grant for the first time in San Diego the other week, and he was crazy awesome and wonderful. He's far and away my favorite writer working in the mainstream right now, and it's so exciting how much freedom he's got over at DC right now. Dude's totally shaking things up. I snapped this pic of him after a panel, because I saw he was still carrying my business card around in his jacket pocket. :)
