Well, I wasn't much into his art as well, but I think that personally the thing I'd miss about Michael Turner was the dedication he had fighting cancer in such a young age and then coming back to comics...

This is where I realize my limitations with the English language... I don't think I can communicate exactly how I feel, but I'll give it a try...

I was not a fan of Micheal Turner's work but I can surely appreciate his talent, and his battle with cancer and everything he has accomplished in comics humbles me.

AgentHelix- You say you don't want us to talk about Euan's comments and that's cool. But because Euan is a moderator on this board, I would like to make it clear that it reflects badly on the DB. Not that he would care, but I've lost all respect for him.

My heart goes towards Michael Turner's family and friends.

im thinking that his passing will effect the industry, there are countless turner fanboys who bought nothing but turner books -and will now buy nothing. i dont know this for a fact mind you im just assuming.

Whatever your opinion of his talent, 37 is just too damned young.

One can't argue that he found a way to appeal to a broad audience and keep the work he wanted to do moving forward.

I will mourn his loss, maybe because he's been there in my stores and conventions and now he's not, maybe because it makes me face my own mortality, or maybe just because a decent guy had a bad roe.

Yea.
This was sad news. I was never aware of his illness till his passing,
He died young, but accomplished what many people haven't in their Lifetime.
He lived his dream as family man, successful Artist, and made a name for himself, entertaining a whole lot of people with his Art.
He was a good contributor to the Industry and even provided jobs for Artists.

RIP
Turner

What can I say that already hasn't been said. At 37 it seems that he lived a full life, but 37 is too darn young. R.I.P.

Wow when i read the tittle to this thread I thought 'Michael Turner..NO not that guy he's SO young!'

My condolences to his family and friends,I lost my Dad last year and losing someone very close to you really turns your world upside down. But from reading everyones posts it seems his efforts have had a huge effect on a lot of people.

i'm sure we all wish we could be as influential.

Totally unfamiliar with this guy until I heard of him passing. Googling around filled me in... "Oh, that Fathom fella".
What a terrible loss for his family and friends, such a brave guy to go through what he did with that awfull disease and still keep doing what he did. Total respect.

Very tragic news for a fellow artist so young. It also saddens me to hear his brand of illustration is so beloved that his passing may strongly hurt the industry. I really can't claim to be any fan at all of these newer artists that seem to be more inspired by the art of Bratz and big-eyed anime characters than historic comic legends like Milt Caniff, Kirby, Hogarth, Wood, etc... But again, I don't want that to take away from the sadness of his untimely passing.

There's definitely too few people like that in this business anyway, and it's a real shame that there's one less now.

Well said.

I think that someone once said, "there's no such thing as a bad artist, it's success just to become one!"
Michel turner, rest in peace!
I am 38 now and I can tell you I am scared.
Mike Wieringo was 42, turner was 37, shit!
Not that I compare myself to any of them, I could not hold a candle to either one.
I do not read comics any more, too much other stuff to do.
But.
Have you tried to do comic art?
It's bloody hard!
Frame after frame, panel after panel, book after book.
For the past four years, I am trying to scrape enough shit to put in a single sketchbook and I still do not have enough.
If I had to produce a 28 page book in a month while trying to retain ANY level of quality iw ould probably give up long time ago.
I looked up at his work after I read the initial post, and I respect the man.
Once again, may he rest in peace.

Regards to all,

Milenko
