If it wasn't for War of The Worlds and Saving Private Ryan I'd be apt to agree with you Shane.

Someone said Scorcese still has it. I personally think he's the one that should be put out to pasture. Gangs of New York and The Departed were convoluted, overblown, overlong, overindulgent and largely unnecessary.

I think that speaks to a huge loss of perspective. Those movies were weak only in comparison to his earlier work. On their own, they are still miles above other movies of their ilk. Besides, dude still needs his fucking Oscar.

I'd say War of the Worlds is far less a movie than either Gangs of New York or The Departed.

Now, see, I consider WOTW at the apex of popcorn adventure and shouldn't even be compared by any standards to Gangs and Departed. I think what ALL of these old masters suffer from is over-production. Hell, that's what killed Prince and Earth, Wind and Fire!

I thought all of ther Scrosese movies of the last decade - Bringing Out The Dead. Gangs of New York, Aviator, and Departed were all pretty incredible. I absolutely adore Scorsese and pretty much his entire body of work

But I also very much enjoyed Saving Private Ryan, AI, Minority Report, Catch me I fyou can, and War of The Worlds. Haven't gotten around to Munich or The Terminal yet (man, Spielberg makes a lots of fucking movies...that's 8 in exactly 10 years yeeeesh)

So saying all that, is anyone thinking twice about seeing the 'Clone Wars' movie? The style looks interesting but I'm not putting much faith in the story.

That movie looks fucking horrible. The designs are interesting because they're using Tartokofsky's stuff from the CN shorts, but the renders are half-assed, animation looks stiff, shots are ill-planned...and the story looks horrid

For some reason my comment appeared way down the thread instead of where I originally responded so some things aren't really relevant to your state of mind.
My comment originally referred to your list of highlights from Kingdom of the Brainless Skull.

JIM BROADBENT

Sorry Harrison, but the government thinks you might be a Soviet. Apparently someone rented ?K-19: The Widowmaker? and panicked.

HARRISON FORD

Bullshit, nobody saw that movie.

That was the best part.
