Sleek. Her last suit is my fav.

When you work strait from pencils, do you run clean-ups before you scanned or after? I'm still torn between the two...

Been enjoying this thread, but there are so many images that it takes some time for them all to load. That or unfortunately my computer will crash :(
But when the computer is running quickly it's nice to glance over everything and see this fantastic work all in one thread.

Every once in a while I'll see the slightest hint of Eric Powell in your work, which is one of the many artists whom I enjoy their work.

Killer Klowns Project

Postby axel#13 » Mon Apr 07, 2008 9:00 am

Here some sketches I did for a demo that was done for my first day of Character Design class. I'm having my students do redesigns of characters in the great 80's movie classic.....Killer Klowns from Outer Space!

Axel Pressbutton and Tailgunner Jo

Postby axel#13 » Thu Apr 17, 2008 2:30 pm

Hey RodGuen and lizzel....Thanks for digging on my work here on this thread.

Hey, all just wanted to post these old sketches for Axel Pressbutton and Tailgunner Jo.....both were comic book characters from the 80's. Pressbutton is a florist...which is a bit nutty.
A client of mine wanted to use these two IPs as video game ideas......well it looks like it's not gonna happen for both....oh well (sigh). Catch you all later.

Great stuff Axel!
Makes me laugh to see old comic characters cropping up here:)
Axel Pressbutton starred at least originally in 'Degradation' a comic strip that appeared in the 80's in the NME (New Musical Express) I believe Alan Moore was in someway connected but I'm not 100 per cent sure. Axel was described as a florist but axe handed psycopathic cyborg would have been a better description, in fact I think he hated vegetation in general as his human body had been partially destroyed in some sort of unfortunate encounter with malcontent alien greenery.
As he no longer possessed 'private parts' his pleasure senses were connected up to the button on his chest, one push and voila, axel would collapse in orgasmic paroxyms on the floor, mostly at the most inapprpriate times in the adventure.
Just for trivia junkies the complete title of the original comic strip ran like this:
"Dempster Dingbunger is my name, Sputwang is my nation. The depths of space gob in my face, the stars my DEGRADATION"
Would be great if anybody had any original comic strips to scan in...here's wishing.
Must dive now, great stuff in this thread axel look forward to seeing more.
