Went to see it Wednesday. Love Danny Boyles work and was looking forward to this, despite the lofty claims that it was sci-fi in the tradition of Kubrick's 2001 and Scott's Alien.

Lived up to all my expectations. Creepy, moving and tense.

Didn't see a thread here for it. Has any one else been to see this?

Hey Aggy, I saw this last week and thought it was great. It was sooo tense! Especially when the computer (I forget it's name) said "there are 5 crew members on board" FREEAKY

There is another thread around here someplace.
It was released in the UK and Australia 4 or 5 months ago.
I thought it was terrific.

Saw it today. Excellent picture. It had me on the edge of my seat for most
of it's running time.
Terrific effects and performances.
It was good to see Michelle Yeoh on screen again and Chris Evans delivered
a darkly shaded character; The polar opposite of his FF performance.

I was a little worried this might end up like that horrific (in a bad way) Event Horizon.

Sounds like the opinions are positive for this. Boyle's a good filmmaker.

Funny that you say that. I walked out thinking that there were some similarities. But not in a bad way. More in a "look into the abyss and the abyss looks into you" kind of way. In fact, they really aren't anything alike. Except for being in space.

This is out on DVD now.

In case anyone missed it.
I knew I should have saved some Christmas cash. But groceries are so much more important than movies. Even really good ones.

i just read another review someplace that compared the last part of the film to Event Horizon. I'm a little worried, but still going to check it out.

I've not see all of it (I was on a plane and fell asleep).
But what I saw was fine film making.

I watched this movie on DVD.

I enjoyed it thoroughly, and thought the way the whole film was laid out made total sense and really built up the tension well.

On the other hand, it was a bit to technological for my wife to enjoy it. She enjoys sci-fi, but in the aspect of not being a 'rocket scientist' to figure out what is going on.

I guess if you are a fan of science fiction, that this movie is totally for you.
