Jackson said WETA will stay true to Remi's original designs in bringing the cast of Tintin to life, but that the characters won't look cartoonish.

"Instead," Jackson said, "we're making them look photorealistic; the fibers of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. They look exactly like real people --but real Herge people!"

Am I the only one who thinks that makes no sense?

no doubt it will look shit but passable.
Tintin is what it is and has succeeded as such forever so doesn't it make great sense
to fuck around with the formula?

If they look like real people, why not use real people?
I couldn't care less about this movie tough. I know many love Tintin but I always hated him and when ever I received his comics as a kid, it felt like punishment. For a long time, I thought Tintin was a teenage girl. Which I now understand makes no sense since Herge was such a chauvinistic guy. And a racist. And tough killing endangered spices was comic relief.
So if they ruin a franchise better be this one than on I actually like.

My thoughts exactly. I hate this photrealistic crap. A cartoon is an upgrade to a real person. When will people get this straight.

To be fair, I think that the art in the comic book is really nice and interesting. The fact that I think Herge was not a nice person doesn't mean that his skills are terrible.
But this movie won't even have the visual charm.
So what's the point... The real fans will probalby thate it anyways.
I know, for someone who "couldn't care less" I'm prettty angry. But I hate when movies do that stupid CG crap. Look at how they ruined Garfield!
I mean, CG is great for things that can't be done with real things, but why use it when the real thing is available? BAh! I gotta get back to work.

I thought the entire point was to make a film with real people to make the characters come to life...
They already have cartoons about Tin Tin (the animated series from the nineties is still very good in my opinion).

So what's the point in this.

I hate this kind of stuff. Since when is photorealism the end-all be-all of animation? Isn't that completely backward? If Tintin must be animated, do it by hand and do it in a style faithful to the source material. Do these guys even know their audience?
Spielberg's retarded "Performance Capture Technology" makes for the most lifeless and ugly "cartoons" I've ever seen.

And why must everything be a Trilogy?

I heard that the third movie will just be 2 hours of Spielberg and Jackson sucking each others dicks. That might just be a rumor, though.

if we're lucky, ther will be
tons of age-inappropriate
violence, preferably shot
in super slow-motion with
overwrought celtic music
in the background, and
about seven endings.

if we're lucky.

If it'll end up looking like Polar Express, then yeah, it's very frightening.

I am a huge fan of Tin Tin.
I offer this -
TinTin is a young man who never has a single relationship with a woman.
In fact the only other women in the entire series is Mrs Castafiore, who looks like a man.
Every adventure TinTin saves a young boy from peril.
And he lives with a sailor.
And he's Belgian.
I would like to see all these things included in the film as entertaining homosexual subtext.
