First I wanted to start this into another hate thread (about how Batman Confidential sucks)
Then I thought, who gives a crap...we need Breyfogle back on Batman!

Here's proof!

Breyfogle was hit or miss, some of his stuff I'd be really impressed by ,other times I felt like it was really sloppy. He did however start that "flat head in the shadows thing" I always liked.

How about other artist from his class, like what ever happened to Jon Bogdanove or Rick Leonardi ?

Leonardi still draws comics from time to time and they are always beautiful to look at. John Bagdonove I used to think drew great super hero stories.

obstacle1: man, you totally need to update your website. I love your work, brother.

Breyfogle was a hero of mine back in the Eighties, but his stuff lately is really average, to be honest. He desperately needs a good inker to keep the great energy from his pencils.

The stuff he's working on nowadays is really derivative and unexciting. It's a shame, because I could see him in a 'company man' role like George Perez, Tom Grummett, or Mark Bagley.

I remember getting Breyfogle's autograph on some Bat comics back when I was 14...15 years old. Something about the Mudpack or something? I don't even remember the stories. But I liked his Batman drawings.

Kelly I agree with you that his latest work looks "average".
It's missing the energy of his work in TEC, I think it's partly due to his inking and his time scedule. I think he has more time to spend on his work now then in the past.

Mudpack was great. "Let's call him Casius Clay..."

Grant was brilliant.

epetmezas: yeah I do catch Leonardi every once in a while , but never Bogdanove, I actually saw sean phillips was inking some upcoming JLA story Leonardi was drawing (Sean Phillips is a great artist but not a good inker for Leonardi). Thanks for the compliment, That was an old site made by a friend, who I don't really talk to anymore. I do have some updated stuff on my art myspace http://www.myspace.com/ordboi and even more in my regular blog http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... ID=1360639.

I LOVED Breyfogle's Bat work back in the day, but haven't seen his newer stuff.

His new stuff involves lots of 'edgy' character design, like characters wearing visors and punks with bald heads.

Not my cup of tea, but I don't care.
I loved his early work on Batman and would love to see these stories reprinted in nice glossy trades or hardcovers.
These books would sell like crazy!

Here's a nice interview with Mr. Breyfogle and Alan Grant. Lots of great work. That issue with Batman outside Parliament is what got me back into comics. I love his work

Just to bring this up again:

Grant & Breyfogle!

I just can't believe this crap, why is it so hard to release this in a Archives kinda fasion. They don't need to pimp up the colouring (like Adams did) just reprint the damn stories.

I'm kinda mad about this whole deal, just bought cover to cover and was surprised to only find TWO covers by Norm.

And where's his black and white statue, I was hoping it would have been announced after Aparo's!

Come on DC!

@Talbot, i read that a few times. Brings back memories.

Ahhhhhhh the late 80's. Great art, beloved character, and a cheap cover price. Now that was what a comic book was all about. (SIGH) :(

I was part of the Breyfogle explosion. Saw the movie and started collecting comic books cause of it... and the Breyfogle/Grant detective comics were so influential on me.

Kinda zipped through the interview and a couple things stood out... can you imagine drawing a comic book that in the span of a few months went from selling 75,000 copies to 650,000 copies every month. All cause of a movie.
Grant grooming Anarky to be the next Robin... that actually would have been interesting.
I remember reading the HUSH storyline and I was like... what the?! I've read this before! Did jeph loeb steal the idea from "mudpack" or was it a never acknowledged homage?

Anyways, i understand your frustration Cobblepot, but I actually own all of those comics still!
