Guitar Heros II: SO worth the wait.

Postby Moonman » Wed Nov 15, 2006 12:11 am

Grabbed it earlier this week and man o mighty does this game kick ass. And by kick ass, I mean it'll kick your ass. Christ they up the ante. I'll be able to go back to Bark at the Moon and breeze right through it after tackling what I had to deal with this time.

I was mixed about the playlist once I heard it. For the most part, it's miles past the original (Allman Bros = SQUEE!!!!), but then they have songs that just have me going, "What is WRONG with you!?" I mean seriously...Cherry Pie!? Others are just personal preferences that I could do without (sorry to possibly offend, but Heart is chick flick rock).

One thing I've noticed is that the guitar that came with the game doesn't seem to be as responcive as the original, which has caused me some grief before I finally switch to old reliable and stuck my roomate with the bad one. I might just go and return the whole thing and hope it's just a defect for this one.

Speaking of which, co-op is da muthaf*ckin BOMB yo! As soon as my roommate tackled Butthole Surfers with me, he was hooked. God willing, they'll make a co-op career mode next game.

So yeah, in summary, this game rocks!

Its got Surrender by Cheap Trick on it.
That alone justifies its existance, now all they need to do is bring out a five-necked version of the guitar so I can perfect my Rick Nielson impressions :)

Two-player is so much fun... Thank god you can mix up the levels, too. Playing bass on EASY while my friend plays EXPERT on "War Pig" was the most fun I had this weekend, and we were playing Wii as well.

Awesome stuff. Can't wait to unlock everything!

I play on Medium right now and am hoping to go at least to Hard soon. My sister used to play Heart on the 8-track on the way to school every morning So for some reason I have an appreciation for the band and I particulary like Crazy On You and it's even fun to play. And I found that several songs that I don't really like to listen to were really fun to play. One of my favorites to play, though, is John the Fisherman by Primus. I just like walking my fingers up and down the fret keys on that one.

Don't be dissin Cherry Pie, that's fun 80s rock! Plus I got 5 gold stars on Easy my 3rd time playing it (after trying it once on practice mode and once on quick-play over at Casa Del Maizekid). I managed to get through Medium, but only by the skin of my teeth.

Piles of fun, but I get might tired of some of the songs... then again, like any guitarist, you gotta practice if you wanna do 'em well!

You really need to master hammer-ons and pull-offs if you want to manage Hard.

I've been playing since December and I'm only managing Hard now.

Alright. I know I was going to try Hard but I had so much fun on Medium I just decided to go for 5 stars on all the songs before I move on. I'm only a few short. I have tried practicing on hard though. That one button addition throws all my stuff off. I need an extra finger (Yes I know guitars have six strings and the controller only has five buttons but I'm used to rhythm and alot of chords). I also bought GH1 recently for the songs. I love playing "Godzilla" and "Flood down in Texas".

Last night I was at a friend's house and he had Guitar Hero set up in the basement. I played for a few hours straight.

This morning, I woke up early, went to the mall, and bought a PS2, both Guitar Hero games, and 2 guitar controllers.

This gives you some idea of how much I enjoyed playing it.

I was the same way. After playing Sweet Child O' Mine in Best Buy I knew I had to get it. I have yet to get tired of it. I can always just pick up that game and play. If you have five to ten minutes before you have go somewhere you can always whip out one or two songs before walking out the door.

Our New Year's party involved Guitar Hero !!, two guitars, and a projector.

Probably our best party ever, I'd say.
