March '07 Jam: Darina

This month's jam is Darina from Hegre Art. Is it safe to say she has Frazetta proportions? Either way, get to it!

Crap. I just abandoned a sketch of pic #2, thinking it would be the easiest and that it would be foolhardy to try the 3rd, and I see Perry H has already nailed it. Very nice. The left hand and feet bother me slightly, but not unacceptable for the quick sketch look of it. Pretty colours too.

Okay well, some fixing of the sketch, then some inks, anyway here's an early entry. A bit of meat-fisted inking and coffee jitters... thank the technology gods for scaling down.

PS suggestions welcome. The thing I was having trouble while inking was that I couldn't find many places to add darker lines and make the drawing more interesting and give the forms more depth. I was afraid of bringing background things forward and flattening it out more.

Big Al - a Drawing Jam would not be complete without your sketches. Man, if I had half your talent...I'd be Medium Sized Al. Nice work AS ALWAYS

Sloppy Bunny - I like your picture but the face looks a little big and masculine for it. The shape of her hips are ACE but maybe if you softened up her facial features a bit it'd help

Perry H - nice work, love the color. Her face is a little squished (in my opinion) but very nice and I love the breasts (not because I'm male and love breasts but I just like the way you drew them...oh...you get the picture, right?)

spacejack - I like your inks, I wish I could ink like that but if I did that it'd look like utter crap. Thank god for Adobe Illustrator or I'd be totally screwed. I'm not sure what Meat Fisted means but it seems to be doing you well

Moonman - I like the girl laying down on the table. Maybe clean up her hair a bit (it looks sort of whacked). But that's a really nice piece. the other two, in my opinion, need a little work on proportions but it's still nice.

So there...I've done my commenting! now no one can accuse me of leaving anyone out...THUS so far!

I love these jams, so many people do so many good things!

sThing, it's cool that the pose works without the tub. I like the colour variations, and the big feet too. Now I feel like just drawing her feet in that photo. But for now, just a colour version with a slight bit of retouching on her far foot. Needed to fall back on colour to separate the figure from the background.
