Dan Aykroyd Talks Ghostbusters Game
Boy, the upcoming Ghostbusters game already has quite the storied, confusing history?especially for a game that hasn't been announced. Let's recap quickly. YouTube videos surface. Fearing further disappointment in life, we doubt they're real. Turns out they are. We rejoice. Then, Sony supposedly pulls the plug.
Now, it appears that the game is indeed on, regardless of whether current developer Zootfly is at the helm. According to Dan Aykroyd (aka the Ghostbuster's Dr. Ray Stantz):
Universal purchased the rights from Sony for a game. I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year.
Well, that about wraps that up. A Ghostbusters game is coming, but not before some time next year, if Aykroyd's dates are to be believed. Michael McWhertor
February 5, 2007 - Ever since Ghostbusters II was released in 1989, there's been talk on and off about a third film in the supernatural comedy series. The main obstacle to such a film happening is generally thought to be star Bill Murray, who has expressed reservations about returning to the supernatural comedy well one too many times. But now, series costar and co-writer Dan Aykroyd believes he may have found a way to make Ghostbusters III a reality.
During an interview with radio station CISN, as relayed by Cinema Blend, Aykroyd revealed that Murray will do a third film as long as its an animated project -- meaning that he's willing to be heard, but not seen. Obviously, this is a process the actor has become acquainted with in recent years with the Garfield films, in which he provided the voice of the title character.
So according to Aykroyd -- who has been shilling Ghostbusters III for so long now that it should be noted that his word is not exactly indication of a greenlight for the project -- the new film will be entirely of the CG variation. And it will be epic, he says, as he'll no longer be facing the limitations of live-action filmmaking. The often-mentioned storyline that has the Ghostbusters team finding themselves in a hellish version of New York, however, will probably not be used, as the animated picture will have to go for more of a family film style storyline.
