Need some metal, some face-melters, some rock

Postby Kelly Tindall » Thu Jan 25, 2007 11:47 am

Okay, I'm updating my work playlist with a lot of really driving, energetic metal and rock (which is the only thing my workmates and I can agree upon) and I'm looking for some suggestions of specific songs. Anything with guitar is great.

Right now, I've got a fair amount of Dio, Judas Priest, Horton Heat, Thin Lizzy, Lost Horizon, Ramones, Queens of the Stone Age, and Spinal Tap. More, please!

Turn It Out by Death From Above 1979. This track should be the first track you play every day when playing metal.

SUPERNAUT by Black Sabbath is a killer track. The cover by Al Jourgansons 1000 HOMO DJs with Trent Reznor on vocals is great too

I can recommend about a million tracks but here is some stuff off the top of my head that is just fun, head banging music without getting to intricate

FORKBOY - Lard
BURNING INSIDE - Ministry
DAMANUFACTURE - Fear Factory
BIRDO - Horse the Band (yes, this song is a SMB 2 reference and even includes a shout along bridge of THROW IT BACK in reference to Birdos eggs(
INTO THE STORM - Blind Guardian
RUN TO THE HILLS - Iron Maiden
VIOLATE - Iced Earth

Forkboy is a great track!

Here's some straightforward rock and metal stuff (nothing too obscure)

Automaic Blues - The Cult
It Ain't Like That - Alice in Chains
Counterfeit God - Black Label Society
Lady Barbuda - Dover
I Don't Mind - Drain STH
Let Me Out - Hellfueled
Ironhead - Helmet
Sea of Madness - Iron Maiden
Idiots Rule - Jane's Addiction
Vulture Story - Jucifer
Shitlist - L7
I Don't Know Anything - Mad Season
Wake Up Dead - Megadeth
Swap Meet - Nirvana
Bulls on Parade - RATM
Acid For Blood - Scissorfight
(sic) - Slipknot
Snot - Snot
Chop Suey - System of a Down
Come Feel Me - Unjust

Speaking of Black Sabbath and the Ozzster, I haven't listened to alot of their tunes but I recently heard and absolutely loved Ghost Behind Your Eyes by Ozzy, can anyone recommend other songs he has similar to this one?

Okay, I'm going to put a bunch of this on my playlist this morning.

Also, don't recommend anything with a lot of swearing; we have clients coming and going all day.

Keep them coming, guys.

Really enjoying Death From Above 1979, Lard, and Horse the Band so far, but still much to download.

I thought I'd add some more rock albums, though most of these are oldies
- Badlands, especially their last album "Dusk" issued a few years after the singer's demise
- Whitesnake 's "1987" (MTV hair bands era)
- Lock Up "Something bitchin' this way comes", Tom Morello's (of RATM) first band
- MSG's (stands for Michael SchenkerGroup) their 2 first albums in the early eighties were really stunning
- Gary Moore's "Corridors of power" though it's a bit of a poppish metal album
- my personal favorite : Mother's Finest "Iron age", try to imagine Aretha Franklin screaming her lungs out in a hard rock band
If you liked some of these above you might also want to listen to the "Hughes/Thrall" album it's another unknown gem of hard rock
