Not stuff from the news- but deep sea fish are so cool and weird, makes for great inspiration!

Frilled shark caught on video, in Japan. Text and video.

Possibly sick, it died short after being captured.

Wow. I didn't know there was an even bigger version of the giant squid.

Me either. It's like finding out there's a cuter type of kitten.

Last week, NG and other sites reported other sort of squid with luminescent tentacles (not the tentacles itself, but parts of it... the tiny parts that adhere thought pressure imbalance, I guess)...

today they reported that some chimps were witnessed using "spears" - roughly conical wood pieces, nothing precisely sculpted as the word may convey - to hunt, stabbing bushbabies which were hidden inside hollow trunks. The video, infortunately for those more skeptical, and perhaps fortunately for those more empathetic with the bushbabies, was allegedly taken after they've used the "spear" to kill the animal, no actual video documentation of the whole thing.

Apparently, it's not the first one. Just the first one in Malaysia.

Not quite "news", but is new to me, a bare skinned (female) chimpanzee:

...I think it worth mentioning that I found that when I was sporadically reading the "paleofreak" blog, originally going there after dinosaur news... before anyone starts wondering if I was performing some friggin sick image search

I thought the same thing. It was always hard to imagine it when I heard that a chimp could tear your arm off. Now it's clearly evident.
