For the mac peeps out there there is a company that is demoing its new product tomorrow called ModBook. Basically they buy a Macbook from apple then mod it into a Wacom Penable slate Tablet. Here is a link to the company:
http://www.axiotron.com/

Will it be $$? Yes, i think this will cost at least as much as a Motion computing laptop. The nice thing though is this will be the only slate available withe a intel core2 due CPU. So you could get it and install windoz on it if you please. I hope they keep the price point low buy selling off all the macbook parts they don't use, such as the case and the monitor.

It'll be on loan.

I think the reason they're not selling to us... They have no idea that we are here looking to buy. They seem to be being pitched as business presentation tools, with no realisation that professional artists might want one.

wacom

For anyone who's interested, I just found a wacom pl-400 tablet monitor on ebay. its selling for pretty cheap because for some reason the wire's been cut. I'd imagine this wouldn't be hard to fix. Wacom's still selling an updated version of this one ( the PL-750 ) on its UK website. I guess it's being made for the business/office work market.

I have used the PL series they are alright. A bit hard to use. The surface is glass smooth, which makes drawing tough. That and the resolution is kinda shitty.. Also the glass is so thick that your cursor feels reall far away from the tip.

Spotted a Hitachi tablet in a TV drama tonight, didn't seem to be pressure sensitive, but difficult to tell

sympodium

Postby Teej » Wed May 30, 2007 9:16 am

Spotted another cintiq-type device on ebay recently. I've seen quite a few of these on there.

SmartTech Sympodium ID350

-I think this one was a 15 inch. On the manufacturer's website they seem to sell a 17" model as well.

Can't confirm whether it's pressure sensitive or not, but in several of the ebay listings it was being shown operating photoshop.

Also saw a Wacom PL400 13" monitor on ebay a few days ago.

Anyone know when and where the new Wacom dtf-521 monitors will be for sale?
