Hey Sabe - thanks for the post

I graduated quite some time ago from BYU's Illustration program (great teachers there!!!). I have been looking for a place to maybe get a masters in painting. Any suggestions?

I really dig the solid construction and simplified shapes you're using.

What are your goals with drawing from life?

Thanks for the post EMCee

"My goals for drawing from life?" - I use life drawing sessions to revisit, refresh and hopefully, improve my drawing skills. If I am struggling with my paintings, I can usually trace it back to poor drawing, so I go back to the basics of drawing to bring things back up. I usually go for a few weeks then take a break from it for a while. To be honest though, it is still one of the things I enjoy most about my art. Getting together with a bunch of artists, talking, drawing, associating with them - It's usually a great time.

So you do it to improve your skills primarily. Okay. Because I got the sense that you enjoy doing these more than anything else. And that it would be nice to see you push that aspect more. These are great, but it'd be cool to see drawings in the same "sentiment" as the ballet dancer paintings.

EMCee - you are correct that I don't normally take my life drawings as far as they could go. Probably because they are never posed how I would like them for a finished piece. But maybe the next few I will try to take a little further. I do however do an occasional finished drawing - here are a few of my dance pieces.

Yeah, those are cool. They don't even have to be that finished. Just in poses and subject matter you care about more. Not that there's anything wrong with nude girls just sitting around :)

Thanks for sharing.
