Because of their message, their singers, or the fact that they play music? No, if you took the time to realize what they say, then maybe you wouldn't be so biased about whenever someone mentions System of a Down. Their message is true, listen to Holy Mountains, P.L.U.C.K., or Boom!. Holy Mountains (Liar, Killer, Demon!) does not refrain to Atat?rk of T?rkiye or insults any T?rk what so ever. If you listen to them, they do not hate T?rkiye, they only hate the Government and what Ottoman T?rks did in 1915 to Armenian and Assryian people living in T?rkiye. Ottomant Empire (Early T?rks) killed 1.5 million Armenian and Assryian people including women and children and to this day T?rkiye does not admit that their ancestors did it. It's a crime, and because of that crime, they let history repeat itself! It's been over 90 years, and they still brush off the archives, the REAL archives of what REALLY happened in 1915 in T?rkiye. Government of T?rkiye even bribes Speaker Dennis Hastert to take down a resolution that would officially allow the US of A to take a vote for officially recognizing Armenian genocide, but he didn't even though Hastert knew it was the right thing to do. More than fifteen countries worldwide recognize this brutality of 1915 as a genocide, so why doesn't North America? That is what System of a Down are trying to allow recognition for. They play benefit concerts for this tragedy, host rallys in D.C., and feed the homeless in Los Angeles after a law passed that it is ILLEAGAL to feed homeless people off the street, but they do it anyway because they are NOT afraid of being arrested, but they ARE afraid that people would go hungry. All four of them are of Armenian families and so their mission to officially recognize the genocide EVERYWHERE is very personal to them because if it weren't for American orphanages, Serj, John, Daron, or Shavo wouldn't be alive and they wouldn't be able to tell their story. And their story, is indeed, in their music. So before you sweep them aside because their guitarist may have ruined their sound, don't forget about the big picture. The genocide must be recognized, or our future will have to pay.
