Thanks Sabe.

The animation is no biggie . . . just take a bunch of pics, then arrange them as frames in a GIF editor, and save the file. I used ImageReady, which used to be bundled with Photoshop. (Maybe still is? I haven't upgraded my Photoshop in a couple of years.)

Well, this is what I did today. Trying to work my way through Anatomy Lessons from the Great Masters.

I spent like three hours on the shading of the upper lip. It's probably the best drawing I've ever done.

For the animated gif one (very good by the way, awsome shading) how did that work? Surely the model can't stand still for three hours? I've only done life-drawing once, and the model moved every 20 minutes.

Anyway, fantastic work.

BoredGeek, hey thanks man! I was beginning to feel invisible around here.
It's basically like you described, except instead of changing the pose, you have the model take the same pose again. It helps if you mark the position of the model's feet with tape or chalk, so they can resume the pose.

Longer poses are not always an option if you go to open studio, which is why I hire my own models.

We don't have a store up here in Cheeseland. It has to be delivered by truck from FIB-land!!

One good thing about FIB-land is this:
Palette and Chisel
You should check it out; they have models every day! Long poses too! (If I remember it's only like 10 bucks. Way cheaper than hiring your own.)

I go down there occasionally, but it's a long drive.

You hire your own models? How much does that usually cost?

Also, how does one find live models anyway? Supposedly it's better to sketch from a model than a photo but I'm not in art school so I have no idea where to look.

Thanks, Mike. Most of the time, I just suck, but some days I suck less than others.
Today may have been one of those days. :D
