Thanks for changing the title, Rick (you were faster than me ;)). A toth thread is a
magnificent idea, even if I kinda like Toby's approach: that's a good way to tribute Toth
by showing how he influenced your drawing and your art (or playing him a tribute).
That and also posting some of his work like you are doing. I may post soon some (what
I think is) Toth influenced stuff.

Toby: great freaking tribute to The Fox there :D
steve-O: that is one of the nicest thing someone has ever told to me  I am
not sure if I deserve it, but thank you :D

Here are a few that I had on my drive. And a few I had grabbed only the day before I heard the news. Makes me sad.

ooohh.
I haven't seen some of these sketches!
I love the 4th one, how the pistol peeks over his shoulder DAMN!
All of them great.
The last one, I've never seen.
Whew...Toth knocks me out with his dramatic staging, acting, composition...

I can't say I was directly influenced by him, other than by glimpses at a few pieces i only now know to be by him.

but considering the impact on my work he had nevertheless, I gotta pay my respects to the man.

If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

thanks for sharing your collections.

Here's some Toth pieces, followed by a Toth-inspired piece I drew and sent him some weeks back, and a friendly parody piece I drew (with some swiping, I must admit) and wrote a couple of years ago.

LOL!!!
I always loved how Toth would preach simplicity in design, but his critiques, notes, of correspondence would always be the opposite.
Run on sentences.
Long winded rants.
Packed emotion.

sometimes I don't understand what he's talking about, 'cause he'll change subject half-way thru. The strange tangents that this visual master didn't seem to mind in vocab.

A great teacher.
gottal love it.

Wow. A friend of mine just recently attended an interview with Alex in his home in this retirement community. Incredible loss but he will forever inspire.

Geez, I wish I could get my hands on some of those classic Hot Wheels comics he did and post my favorite panels here.

Good read.
Toth really knows how to use his designs for psychological effect...the escapee running towards the light thru the tunnel!!??!!

Thanks Jeff, cruel, but thanks!!

That Weird War Tales story about the hanged prisoner is a total rip off of the Ambrose Bierce short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." Shame on you, Bob Haney! :D

Great art though!
