The Alex Toth Thread!

That's a really sad news. He was one of the few all time Masters of comics. :(

From the official Alex Toth forum at http://tothfans.dynu.com/

Hello.
I am Alex's oldest son Eric. I meant to be the one to let everyone know that my father did pass away this morning drawing/writing at his table. I do not have any further details other than I will forward an address for those interested in sending cards. We will arrange something appropriate at or around the convention this summer in San Diego. As John shared, all of your cards and letters of the recent past were very much appreciated by my father. Only in these last years did he begin to understand and accept the fact that his work had touched so many people's lives. In time, more information will follow.

Thank you.
Eric and family.

i'm very saddened by this. i've just recently become obsessed with his work. but it's inspiring to know that he was still drawing and writing until the day he passed away.

It's a bad day for comics and for those of us who love his work.

Maybe his work will be more appreciated now.

I feel really sad with his passing, because i like many, considered him one of the most amazing artists that has ever worked in the field of comics and animation.
I doubt he realized the influence his work had on countless artists, and the importance of his work in terms of showing that you don?t need a million lines everytime to tell a story.
He really was a master artist, and it?s fortunate we have some of his work to learn from, and to enjoy.

Sad news. One of the true masters of the form, and a true inspiration. One of my favorite artists.

We should all be so lucky to live long, fruitful lives and then pass away at our drawing tables.

You'll be missed, Mr. Toth.

This is the worst news I've received in the past couple years!!
I've studied Toth's work everyday for the past ten years. It's as if Toth has become a part of my family...

He still created a huge stack of material, he was really succesful and remained healthy so he had a full life. Nothing to be sad about. Godspeed Alex Toth.
