Don't cry over spilled beans!
The coloring book edition was actually announced in April:

Do you love Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.? An avid fan of coloring books? Boxers or briefs? Well, you’re in luck because you the reader get to be the colorist for a very special Variant issue of Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.
For Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. #5, Marvel is releasing both a regular version as well as a Crayon Butchery Variant. Now you can not only read but COLOR Monica, the Captain, Boom Boom, Machine Man and all your favorite Nextwave characters. Be careful with Dirk Anger. He’ll get mad (angry?) if you mess up. Plus, you can make the myriad of explosions drawn by Stuart Immonen and Wade von Grawbadger all sorts of pretty colors. Like magenta. Mmmmm…magenta.
It will likely be your only chance to see a magenta explosion in this book. |
ah, me and my uninformed, premature spilled-bean-over-crying.
sounds like Stuart's got a few more beans up his sleeve....

Why was the title changed to "Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E."?

Search "nextwave" on Google and you'll see that a certain legal department didn't follow through on securing a clear TM.

And, since I can't keep anything to myself, I present the image that will be everyone's avatar in a couple of months...

IT IS TIME!!!
Avatar updated.
"Fear my robot head."
"Moo hoo ha ha."
And about 1,957 other wonderful bits of dialogue attached to equally wonderful pretty pictures that combine to exponentially increase the amount of funny and should best be experienced in the comic itself. Until everyone's read it and we all start spouting 'em in this here thread..
Me love Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.

If I were home, I'd be scanning and posting the Captain America panel. Since I'm not (and I probably shouldn't be doing it anyway), I'll just say it's skull skull skull skull awesome.
They're already price-gouging the crayon version at my shop....$4.99!! But they only had 2 left when I got there.

I picked up one of those around 12:45, Rick... when were you there? It was the only one on the shelf with the stack of regular #5s.
Yeah, $4.99 bites! But I'll have fun coloring
And yes, the Captain America panel is wonderful. That whole double-sided page is pretty fantastic overall!

I managed to pick up both, my first experience with Nextwave, and I like it!
The use of newsprint was a cool choice too!
