Blog suggestion + new question

Postby Denis » Wed Apr 12, 2006 7:56 am

Rob, I know you've done a LOT already with the blogs new features, and I'm thankfull for it. So I'm a little embarrassed to ask you yet another thing but, here goes...

The main cool feature that I like about blogger is the ability to click on the image and have it displayed at a bigger scale in a new window. It would be super cool to have that as well with Drawing Board blogs. Just a thought.

Again, thanks for all your hard work.

Hey Denis,

You've read my mind. It seems simple, and i've been thinking on how I'd implement it. Worries, it pretty high on my list of things to do..

Rob, quick question: If I decide to change the layout of my blog, will I lose everything?

No you won?t lose anything, but I would back up your old template to a backup text file before applying any new one, just in case you like the old one better.

Hey Denis, I'm still working on making the images clickable. It's proving to be pretty tough. I've found a pretty easy was to make the image clickable in the meantime, however.

after you have you image formatted in the editor, you can simply select it by clicking on the image. Then you click on the link icon (the chain icon)

In the link popup, click on the browse button to browse through your pics and select the picture you want to link to, usually the same picture.

Also you can pick a different picture if you'd like, or use the input bar to put the url in, if you have it hosted elsewhere.

Let me know if this is clear of not.

Rob, I tested it. I had to shrink the image half size first in the editor, otherwise it would be useless to click on it and have it appear in a new window at the same size. :) Once I shrunk it, I gave it a link like you said and as a target I chose "new window". And it works!!! It's a little bit complicated though. Nevertheless, I might try it with my next post.

I know it's not an easy task so, I appreciate the effort Rob.

yeah i figured you should use the handle points on the image in the editor box to shrink the image down. Just use the link feature to make it click to same image url (either picked from your gallery, or another outside source). This way you can either make them clickable or non clickable.

I've scoured the code for a few hours to try to make this automatic, somewhat, but i couldn't find it to modify it.

I'm also in the precess of typing up a instruction manual more or less with pictures, on how to take advantage of all the blog features, which will be released one day.

Also, I'm really liking your new blog design, and am enjoying your content, keep it up!

That'll help a lot, I'm sure.

Hey thanks Rob. Just having fun with it. :) I found out how to put an image in the background and decided to change the whole thing.
