Wow, taking part in a superhero jam, bout time i did this.

So i had about three different takes on mighty mouse i wanted to do, this was the easiest one, put it together in a couple of hours tonight. Its kinda large because any smaller and the texture in his fur doesnt show.

Basically i marvel "ultimatised" him, so i present to you ULTIMATE MIGHTY MOUSE.

Crits welcome, if you think i need to crop it or fix something up, please tell me.

Really nice take on MM, Dark Hero. The city looks great, but I think MM's lighting needs a little love. His silhouette is getting really lost. Perhaps introduce some rim lighting and a dash of a red fill under him (between him and the viewer) would help pop him a bit.

Really dig the direction you took it.

Lil Scamp-Love yr MM design-very clean & stylistic!

I thought (stupidly) he'd be easier to draw than what he is-I'm not 100% happy with this pic-esp the girl mouse, but I'll post this up as my contribution for now.

More cool stuff to look at!

jokerman725: Now that's an expressive Mighty Mouse! The whole thing has a great sense of movement. The fast line work looks cool and I like the simple colors on it. The one thing I think can be worked out better is the thumbs up arm. The fingers seem to be floating there with no palm to hold them together. There also needs to be some part of the forearm as his shoulder and bicep lead directly to his fingers. Lastly, and this is minor, by not continuing the line of the cape from around his neck to where we see it go over his shoulder almost doesn't look like a cape. It looks like he wearing a scarf.

Zaccheus_Prime: Very cool. Reminds me of the cover of Action Comics #1. I think the way you treated his body is interesting. He's familiar and classic but still very much you're own in the face. I think the modern MM has al those curves and when we try to draw him they get reinterpreted as "chubby" I like your treatment because it stays true to the curves but makes him look very solid. I think you used some really nice shapes too. Because his chin comes more to a point he just has more of a neck and looks less sweet and more heroic.

The Dark Hero: I like the thoughts behind your piece. I'd just like to see more of Mighty. I saved the pic and brightened it in PS to be able to see it better(on my home monitor it was almost completely black). I like what you're showing of the costume design. The yellow piping and the cut of the costume are great. I just feel that all black with a small diamond mask make it look like the old robin costume. Look at the Ultimates, yeah there is a lot of black, there's also burgundy, navy, and deep yellows. It's ok to darken the colors, those choices give and edge to the art. But give a brown mouse a black costume and you can get muddy. By the way, your city scape looks amazing! You give the impression of this metropolis flying by and the lone rodent protector watching over it. Very moody.

MrImagination: I Like this montage more. It Feels more finished and more filled out and finished. Martian could be a little higher up though, that would really give a flow to the composition. I like the playful speeder, his costume is the most original looking.

Mr_Laub: Not bad for a first post. It's the Eradicator! But what happened to his glasses? Design wise I dig the M going into the collared cape, it;it's a nice touch. There's something off about his legs though. The blue doesn't bother me... but his feet are facing in and structurally his legs should be a little longer (or his arms a little shorter). It's interesting when people try and "naturalize" Might by making it look like he's actually got fur, they always look a little dirtier. lol. Nice addition of the spit curl too. I've always felt MM was missing that little feature.

lil scamp: I like your use of line weights and simple shapes. There's something to be said about a mouse with ears almost as big as his whole body! The design is great, I can almost see this as a flash animation. His small eyes make him look a little shifty though.

Toon-Lion: Ohh Ohh! I have this how to animation book but together by an ex Disney artist. Is the back of the book it shows his designs for a Honeymooners carton that was never produced. That's what your design reminds me of. I love it. Like chubby superman from Superman for all seasons (I always feel like the only person that liked that book). Your Mighty is sweet and beefy(I love the little roll he;'he's got)! You've also got some gorgeous living lines there. Very nice shading as well. The only thing I can really pick at is the woman's pose. MM flows so well and I feel him moving...but she's sitting in a chair?

That's all for now I guess...Keep em coming. I have one more to post soon.

Thanks for the crits guys, maybe i should rethink the colours. I originally intended it to be a very dark piece with some harsh hilights, very dark and gritty, but it came out much lighter, i might have to just go back and see if i can fix it up a little, bring him out somemore, maybe lighten the fur and add some more colour to the suit.
