mannycartoon - Great choice, Manny, and an cool update of the costume. The "MM" logo has shades of Miracleman about it; krisvahl - That is a seriously badass take on the character. Awesome.

I'm afraid i'm a bit of a traditionalist:

mannycartoon, cool interpretation

krisvahl, that's one badass rat

em, traditional with attitude

Here's my take, the one at the bottom left is mazy mouse as mighty mouse.

WOW!

Postby mannycartoon » Sat Mar 18, 2006 11:14 am

WOW...damn you all work fast.

krisvahl: Great stuff...I can see this guy flying in riping Harry's tail off and beating him with it! I love the cartoon proportions with the short legs and large head. Great use of sharpe angles and clean line line work.

em...: Amazing sesne of thick interesting color. You've got flat line work but the way you work your light and shadow give him volume and dimensionality. You paint in the computer like someone learned to oil paint first. You're laying down a base tone and paint over it in layers with a "wet brush".

senti: Cool use of basic shapes. Thats something I noticed in your work on the site. Any chance of you fleshing these out any more? The two on the bottom look like interesting choices.

Bubbashelby: I'm hoping to see your version here soon!

This is why I jumped at the chance to do this. I love putting something up and see what crazy darts fly at it!

Exactly correct.

senti - Great shapes and variety in your sketches. The bottom right is my favourite.

Sweet Jam! Just had to pop out a quickie. This one's inspired by Zombotomy's work and John K.

Here's the larger res for those so inclined. Clicky!

More to look at!

humbleego: Dude that is one expressive expression! I really like how you build up the tones in your piece. Nice use of the hilights...make him look shiny. I also really like the way the muscles are almost grotesque, really meaty and natural. The "hair" and spit curl on the top is something I alsoways thought he needed.

em...: have you ever thought of doing a tutorial on your comp painting techniques? I'd definatly have to peek at that.

Heres something I came up with before doing the main piece for the Jam. The idea was sort of a Beatrix Potter take on Mighty. lol I know it's still the first day but I'm already working on a third piece anyway.

I'm so happy seeing all these differnt styles comming together on this guy lol

Yeah, this should be a lot of fun. Fantastic stuff so far.

Here's a quickie from me while I wait for art directors to get back to me about the projects I should be working on.

humbleego - Wondefully twisted take on the character; mannycartoon - I was never a fan of Beatrix Potter as a kid but, if this character had appeared, I would have paid a lot more attention; Darren M A Calvert - I could actually see this working as a modern animation; porcelain - You've captured the charm of the original cartoons perfectly, Daryl, while still giving it a modern twist

Cool more stuff to look at!

Postby mannycartoon » Sun Mar 19, 2006 12:23 pm

Wow...not a bad turn out for the first two days of a thread I think.

Darren M A Calvert: That is a neat piece. It's slick but has more naturalisum (the furry cheecks) than the classic Might Mouse. I also like the strong chin you gave him (Bruce Cambel as Big Mighty! Colorful bright and very clean. good stuff all around.

porcelain: Wow. What economy of line. Hirshfeild would be proud! I love the engy and the movement you've got going on here. Simply black really works here.

Cool stuff...can't wait to see what the new week brings.
