Stopping bandwidth bitches?

Postby chukw » Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:28 am

I'm getting stuff hotlinked from my site to an ever-increasing degree. Any way to block it, oh knowledgable ones? I'm flattered, but not willing to give it up to My-Fucking-Space and Fark.... :x

Just e-mail the douches involved and ask them to link the page and not the art. Or find one of those scripts that automatically loads a "stop leeching" pic everytime somebody tries to embed one of your images.

Or stop posting your art online; which would be a shame. Your stuff if nice (if not a bit freaky)!

your cPanel should have a HotLink button in there somewhere (probably by index manager). Click on it and you can decide what types of files and who can link to your images...if it's not there , talk to whoever hosts your site.

Thanks, Dave- Freaky is good!

Emcee, could you elaborate? I'm guessing you mean configuration panel- no hotlink buttons in site. I'm a Doteasy guy, btw...

I just looked up Doteasy, and it says they offer Hotlink protection. Hotlinking is the term that's used to describe hosting an image and then spreading that link around via links and <img> tags.

http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=147 (but that almost a year old).

Their site doesn't seem to mention anything about hotlinking other than it allows you to link on other sites.

cPanel usually refers to Control Panel or Configuration Panel.

Hotlink protection should be in there...but if it's not, I suggest contacting Doteasy to find out more.

Hope that helps.
