Double Album, hurray! I wonder if it will be as weird as she was before she made her greatest hit album. Woman's Work and Red Shoes was kind of not that quirky.

I couldn't believe it, first Fiona Apple, now Kate...this is a great Fall season for music...at least for me. Kate was THE innovator for quirky singer/songwriters. I love her stuff. She's very mesmerizing in her videos as well. A true artiste.

So what does everyone thinks? I liked the last song best. The album is overall very calm. I couldn't make much difference concept wise between the 2 discs.

First off, I love Kate Bush, have for years. This album was nice to hear. Like hearing the voice of an old friend That you have not heard from in years, but as you so rightly pointed out it is very "calm" album. I miss the old Kate. Some favorites of old were

There goes a tenner
Sensual world
Ken
Pull out the pin
Under ice
Wuthering heights...on and on
I used to like how she seemed to use all sorts of odd instrumentaion in her songs. They seemed very "grand" , this album is too understated for my taste, pretty much just piano and strings. Still nice to hear here, but it seems some of the fire is gone. Maybe thats what a 12 year vacation does to you. I can't imagine not drawing for 12 years and then picking up a pencil one day to jump back in.....good lord. Still good, but not as good as the Fiona Apple to me ( The last album before Kates that I bought)

Firstly...I agree with Rod!
Its those big brown eyes and poutly lips..I had a huuuuge crush on her as a young 'un. I remember her on Top Of The Pops singing Wow (I think) she was sat at a piano, dressed in her usual bohemian way with a Bardot/Lennon style cap. Phwoargeous.

Still to new to the latest album so I cant offer a proper opinion on it but I think I fabvour the second disc, its got Rolf (God) Harris on it for a start...

I prefer her slower stuff to be honest but its all good.

Faves (in no particular order)

Man With A Child In His Eyes (love the piano and the minor chords used, great lyrics too)

Experiment IV-bit of an 80's style rocker, but I love the "X-files" lyrics.

The Dreaming-just for her crazy Aussie singing (she's a crazy ga)l and wierd instrumentation, very evocative.

Wuthering Heights-groundbreaking, what a debut, she uses her voice like an instrument.For the most part of the song, its just the voice supplying the melody. Great Thin Lizzy style guitar at the end too.

Running Up That Hill- great rythmn.

Babooshka-for THAT costume, shallow I know, but its her fault!!

Wow-great spooky vibe to it.

To cut a long list short, even her weaker tracks offer far more to the listener than a lot of the crap you get, the music world is a lot better off for her bringing new stuff out.

In an ideal world she would tour the album too, but I HIGHLY doubt thats going to happen !

It's kind of like she made a Cafe DelMar record. It sounds like you're outside, by a cottage. It's neat, the sound is kind of like you are there with the instruments too. It seems modestly produced.

My favorite album ever is Hounds of Love, I like the entire album And it just keeps getting better as you listen through it. Lot's of sound effects. I wonder how it would've sounded if it had been recorded now.
